Default Help with Body Shop in South Florida

This is what happened:

Now, my question is, one body shop quoted me $850 to fix both the bumper and the quarter panel, that's "fixing" the bumper, not "replacing".
I later went to two other body shops, were i got quoted ~$1100 to replace the bumper and fix the quarter panel. The reason they said they had to replace the bumper completely was because in order to align the quarter panel correctly, they would need to see where the bumper falls in place, which makes sense to me.

So what I want to know is, how true is that statement? Obviously the price difference between the $850 and the $1100 is the bumper replacement (~$250). Do I REALLY need to replace the bumper? Then again, i don't wanna pay $250 less to have a crappy job done and spending more in the end.

What do you guys think I should do? Does that price sound reasonable?

Also, has anyone dealt with the following shops?:

Falls Auto Collision Center (close to The Falls mall)
*****'s Paint and Body Shop (close to International Mall)

Any info is highly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Well, the rear bumper being plastic cannot be fixed if it has any deformation in it, it can only be repainted, from the pic I can't tell if it just scratched. Otherwise 1100 sounds reasonable, the bumper is around 250

bumper is deformed, not just scratched, that's why i was wondering how they were going to fix it.
i guess i'm better off paying an extra $250 and getting the job done right than having it done twice, huh?

Yeap, that plastic bumper cannot be fixed, when I got rear ended it didn't look bad and the cop figured it woul dbe around 400 to fix, it ended up at 2K for the whole repair.

The plastic bumper can be fixed but ,If it were me I would have it replaced it will be a better quality job.I have been doing heavy collision for 10 years and plastic repair is more of a cheap fix and may not last as long......But the price quotes sound about right.

What body shop did u get that $800 quote from? There is a AUTO PERFECTION shop on US 1 (9180 South Dixie Hwy) close to dadeland mall. I have not done any body shop things, but their prices for most things I got done there were cheap.

pm me if you want their phone # or better direction.

<------ This is how i feel right now.

They had told me it should be done by Tuesday.

Anyway, here's the UPDATE:

Too bad i forgot my camera, but the car is almost done, i checked it out, the quarter panel was fixed, the new bumper was in place, everything ready to be painted as of today. So it "should" be done latest by Wednesday (crossing-fingers).

I'll take some pics when everything is done so you guys can see the results of the surgery.

Well I saw my stud today ....
major progress made although I almost had a heart attack when I saw that stuff they put all over cars to protect them from being scratched up in the Body Shop ... anywho just 1 headlight and emblems missing ...YEAH !!!!

I may get it back tomorrow (which would be early) , the latest Wednesday.

<Jun: The way I see it let them take their time to do a good job vs. a rush mess

Darn I keep forgetting the pics...
ok I'll do a "Before and After" thingy when he comes home to Mama

yup, that's why i'm not even going to bother calling today and wait for their call, that way i'm not rushing them.

Glad to hear your stud is doing good, he'll recover in no time

Here's the finish product:

These are the little spots that are bothering me, i don't know how he's going to fix them, but he said he will... (around the center of the pic, bottom-left corner of the white circle reflection), there are quite a few:

Then there are these white little dots:

And of course, the polish parts, but the camera couldn't capture it, i guess i need more light. I'll take some pics of that later.

The color looks like it matches pretty good so far, haven'te been able to check it out in FULL SUNLIGHT (these pics are from this morning) so we'll see.
