Thumbs up Quads on my Sunset!

Quads on my Sunset
Bet that subject line furrowed some brows! Seriously, I have never liked the exhaust tips on my Z. So...... I changed em' this week.
I dumped the stock muffler (HEAVY/HUGE!!) because I felt it was too "ricer-like" w/the big cans. Of course, the fact that my other car is a 3000GT w/4 exhaust tips (note second pic) may have figured in my decision! I replaced it w/muffler from/for (shudder) a Camaro because of the inability to weld these particular tips on stock Z muffler outlet configuration. I am guessing I saved at least 30 lbs. The sound is so Ferrari like now that it is mesmorizing! It comes in @ approx 3600 and just snarls up the scale if pushed. The nice part is that it will only snarl if I call for it, otherwise it sounds like the stock unit. I am very pleased w/setup tho I realize others may not care for it, I think the 4 tips add more exotica and personalization to an already exotic automobile. Regards, Jim

I mostly dislike the way the bumper and pipes clash. Though I dont like the setup it would be fine if the person liked it, but the bumper just clashes, makes it look like a mickey mouse job. But thats just my opinion.

Default Jimbo... What have you done?

Well, we'll just have to see these quad pipes at the next meeting. Let's line up our Z's outside and have a sound contest with the club members. I don't know, they look a little ricey and dare I say it small. However, if you like the sound, it is certainly better than the stock exhaust, which sux.

A friend of mine with a C5 vette had his stock exhaust with quad tips removed and replaced it with a Borla with two big custom tips. It looks and sounds impressive.

Don't mean to dis you, just expressing an opinion. Can't wait to see it next month.

Ted, He, he, he! Naw, no diss felt. I have always been one to not "go with the crowd" and I wanted to differentiate my Z from all the others. Plus, I really felt the big cans were more ricer looking than the quad tips as all I see on every Civic in town is that ugly 5" can hanging out to one side. Everytime I looked at the duals, I saw the "Civic can" on both sides. Aren't ya' glad we're all different??

If I were you I'd really try to do something about the bumper. The half-circles really don't look good with the quads, you can tell someone's been screwing around with it.
