I may get a good case of 'SCR overdose': the Danny Collins Memorial SCCA races are scheduled for SCR next weekend and I'll probably do the ZCCC event as well.
BTW- Danny Collins designed the layout for SCR and was a great racing instructor in the area. He passed away earlier this year, but his memory and accomplishments live on.

After surviving the Labor Day weekend SCCA races (with some rubbin' combined with respectable finishes in the 200SX Se-R), I'm looking forward to having a fun, relaxing time at the ZCCC day this coming Saturday. GaryM05 has some good mods to try at the event and I'm hoping for some company in the 'A' group. Will I get to encounter the G35C pilot (that was the subject of some discussion before) in that group?

My wife and I will be there, but not to drive. My tires are just to far gone to be doing track days safely. I'll bring the stopwatch to time people if they would like, also the tire pyrometer as well.
What G35 coupe pilot? Some guy talkin' trash about the Z going to be there? I must have missed something...

The G35C driver was alluded to in another thread. I believe he was talkin' to (or at) Peterputter, but details were pretty sketchy. Anybody who was at the Spring ZCCC track day want to elaborate?
I'm going to have to miss this one, unfortunately. The wife and I have decided (at the VERY last minute) to travel to Columbus, Ohio for the Texas - Ohio State football game this Saturday.
I'm disappointed to be missing the last ZCCC track day ever at SCR, but maybe we can put together another 350Z track day this fall.
Have fun on Saturday, everyone!

Glad to see most everyone at the track. I had a good time watching everyone tear it up for one last hurrah. I'm really going to miss driving at that track, still can't believe it's closing down... Hopefully I can catch some drives with you guys and enjoy the Z while I still have it,
Brian, are you still planning on a drive for the 17th or was that the day of the Show n' Shine at Tynan's you mentioned?

I think we will all be going to the gathering at Tynans, I will post up info on the other thread.
Good seeing you today Will, it's been awhile. I know I had a blast. I think it was my most fun track day yet, I really like that track, I'm sad to see it go.

Also want to give special thanks to Darrel for letting me run his white 240Z for a session. Once I adjusted to having to 'muscle' it around SCR, it responded well. We would have been much quicker, but the engine had a definite flat spot just as you got into the powerband. Darrel thinks it is a carb adjustment issue and I concur that's the place to start the fix.
It was also interesting to jump back into my Redline coupe for the following session and take Darrel for more laps. Power steering/brakes, fuel injection, etc. that comprise 30+ years of production advances made me really scramble to reorient myself over the first few laps. Can you think of a better way to appreciate the heritage that the first and last Z cars share than by flogging them on the track?
Finally, I have to report that the Tilton flywheel/twin disc clutch made a big difference on a NA car like mine. Together with the Dunlop Super Sport tires, it certainly felt like the Z was flying. Will and I never got a clear lap, but I was carrying more speed and having a bigger 'sweet spot' to use throughout the track. I found myself hitting the rev limiter at certain points on the track that I'd never been particularly close to before. Outside of the yellow Z06 and the 911 track car, I'd say the Z was the epitome of a sharp handling, yet tractable dual-purpose machine. The only downside to all this fun was some overheating that I'll have to troubleshoot so I don't melt my precious VQ!
Is there any interest in getting our Z group together for an open-lapping half-day before SCR closes at the end of October?
If you can put that together, then I'll definately buy some R compounds and be out there for that as well as the Time Trial. I think I can swing it by work to give me the days off.

The schedule for 2nd creek has a multicar club for Oct 29th and 30th. That is the mercedes club that is hosting. There usually aren't too many people there, but since it is the last days atr 2nd creek it might be a little crowded or not.
The prices are comparable to z club track days, at least Bob the track manager takes what he can get for the mercedes club because they still have to come up with the rental fees reguardless of how many show up.
