you were not rude in any way, robert, i appreciate any ideas or feedback. i am seeing now that people on here are really enthusiasts about the Z, you even know the designer's name wow. I also see that I have a really ,extreme, different approach to cars than many of the other members. HOWEVER, I don't want to de-value the Z or be the black sheep of the car club whenever I make it to a meet or event. so i am going to consider 18" rims and see how they look. I have always in the past researched and found out the absolute biggest wheels that will fit on all my vehicles, then went a size or 2 bigger and rolled fenders and other extremes to stuff them in there, they make it ride like crap, but I only go about 30 mph and bump music. the big wheels are quite the panty droppers you know. however the Z is considered a sports car, not a luxury car (like all my others) so i need to focus more on coilovers, intakes, etc. not pimp ****
thanks for your reply
if you think the carbon fiber is a little much, you should see the Louis Vittone kit we are putting in the donk, it is so tacky ha ha

i used to polish the chrome bumpers on my first car--a '78 dodge diplomat. talk about bling, baaaaaaaaaaabbbbbbbbbbbbbbbyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! it was white, but had green vinyl bench seats, a green vinyl top, and whitewalls. nothing like a shining chrome bumper to impress the ladies!

I guess you can see that 20" chromed rims are not in favor on this board! One correction: adding chrome to any wheel adds a significant amount of weight (as much as 3-4# per wheel) through the electroplating process. On such a pure performance car as the Z, that makes no sense and becomes an ostentacious display of bling. It makes the rest of us want to punk ya. Feel me?

So if you got the Z for looks, fine. But stick to putting the 20-30" chromies on blinged-out Monte Carlos. IMHO that's where they belong.

hey there Steve,

Nice Z and I say do whatever the hell you want with your car. I'll also say that I have a set of 19x8 front and 20x10 rear Axis Se7en M0D's w/ Nitto's on them that I'm asking $800 for. It'll definately spice your car up and the wheels look absolutely gorgeous on the car and fill up the wheel wells nicely. They are also staggered for the lips, the front lip is 2", and rear is 4" definatley giving it that aggressive RWD car look.

Here's some pics of the wheels on the car:

If your interested in the wheels shoot me a PM.

my gawd, that white ZR looked terrible with those seats LOL they made the car look cheap. Nice rims Juztin, they look good on the car, how can you have differnt size rims and it not affect anything? 19 & 20
?

BTW what is wrong with bling, it means that you have money to just throw around, where most people have mortgage payments, child support, etc.
buying wheels that are 600-800 each w/o tires should not be a reason to get punked, if anything people should ooh & aah over them like women do over diamond rings, right? dkmura?

dave,

thanks for the correction on the chroming weight. 3-4 lbs per wheel is an enormous performance sap in additional to the extra weight of the larger wheel.

i like lead rims myself. I was thinking about going with dual 13's--like a snowcrawler. maybe we could work that into the next tech day.

First, as long as you maintain the stagger between the front and rear tires, it makes no difference what size rims you have. And there's nothing wrong with bling, but I don't know where your statement about having money to throw around is going. Yeah, I've got a mortgage (no child support I know of) and I've already spent the $$ for expensive *** wheels that look good and perform well. You started this thread and asked for feedback. Not all of it is going to be what you want to hear.

yeah dave, i am sure your rims look good, it doesn't matter size or finish to me, if someone changes from stock I give props no matter what. I just couldn't figure out the reason why everyone hates chrome so much, I was looking over cardomain.com and over 70% of the people on there have 20s on their Z (not all chromies, just that size). look at this one and tell me what you think.

thanks, btw I do value all opinions, just so you know

Steve- Yep, I'd agree that LeMans Sunset Z has some lookin' nice wheels. Maybe it's just me, but when I see large chrome wheels on a Z with the OEM brakes just dwarfed inside, it makes me cringe.

Buying "bling" does not show that you have money. When I see "bling" on someones car, I think of low-life drug dealers trying to make themselves look good.

If you really had "money to just throw around" you wouldnt be driving a Z. No offense, but nowadays you can get a Z easily for under 20k.

I think the best look for you would be a set of 19's all around. You still get your minor "bling" factor, and you dont sacrifice the performance and handling.

I think i am going to go with 19s, I mean jeez the track model Z comes with 18's, if I can't go bigger what is the point right?

and I was never saying i just have money to throw around, i was just trying to define bling and why it is so in style right now.

the wheel system i have always used before was 3-4 inches bigger than stock, but the Z seems like a different breed of beast, than a bwm, audi, lexus, etc.

I can tell you from experience and what people are all saying in this thread, big wheels is fine & dandy but definately expect an acceleration hit. As far as cornering I can corner with the bigger wheels as I did with the stockies etc. But then again I'm not cornering any where near the level of say on a track or something; I'm sure the diameter and weight would show their true colors then.

Huh..............What ther *****?..........Are you serious? You have to be joking. Are you implying that your only expense in life is your Z? I would guess if that were true for the rest of us, we'd all be driving and modding something else besides our Z's. Maybe a new Z06 or something more, but thats just my thought. To me, having a place to live and provding a life for my loved ones is far more important then some car.

When I see the bling you reference, my first thought is not that they have money to throw around. I think "there's another of those mother F'ers taking his god damn goverment handout checks that he gets from having a bunch of illegitimate kids, being jobless, chasin the muff around spreading his seed to all the hoe's who must spread that stinky ****** to guys, going to buy more ricer shid for his car." The idiot would rather spend money on that, then provide all these offspring they have running around a life, a house, a decent meal, an education and a parent who actually gives a shid about them, and not the $5G's they have in wheels/tires, and the other how ever many thousands in other **** for a car they really don't need.

Oh BTW 25cent.........what exactly does "ddddiiiirrrttyyyy south baby" mean? You referenced that there wasn't enough of "it" around here. Just curious, I've never heard of it. Not trying to pick a fight, just stating what's more then likely on everyone else's mind reading this thread.

Testify, Brother Mudd.

Here's the sum-up of "dirty south" from Wikipedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dirty_south

A synonym is "ignorant," or as they say in my beloved Mississippi, "ignernt."
