Final thought...What really got me is Kevin ALREADY was FI, this was his thread about UPGRADING. Doesn't really seem to be the time or place to even have a discussion of what's better or even people personal opinion of pro's and con's SOOOOOOO
Congrats Kevin, good choice and can't wait to start wrenchin' and taking a change of underwear drive in her!

Wow. Sorry I so rudely hijacked this thread. Just injecting some other ideas. Ah, well, best of luck to you all.

Lol, no worries you will want FI soon enough. You usually have to drop about $3000 into your NA setup, then dyno and realize that due to altitude you just made it so you are now making what guys make at sea level stock. Then you pull it all off sell it to some lucky sea level douche, and throw down money for turbo, or an EVO/STI.

Hmm... somehow I missed this glove slap thing when this was originally posted. We should hook up and see how your single turbo Z holds up against my evoIX i Just bought. Let me know.

Great choice in cars, but from past experience running them on just 6#, not much competition unless they do a 35R swap etc.

I wasn't against FI entirely, just FI on a car that isn't really suited for N/A, but that's just my view of the vq as it currently stands. I just realized that the cost of building out my z versus buying a evoIX just didn't make sense - that and I decided not to relocate for work to Cali where a NA car like the z doesn't suffer so much. So staying in CO and with winters and all, a nice awd turbo made a lot more sense for my dollars. Plus it's nice to have a rear view again.

Sure thing we should hook up and since I'm a road course guy let's see what happens when we are both out on the track at PMI or Golden sometime soon. Plenty of track time coming up, and what better way to see how two cars and the skill of the drivers really match up?

Probably running an evoVIII I would guess. But yeah, I guess I wouldn't feel too bad if I got walked in my stock IX by a TT built z. Not really a straight up fight. I wonder what would happen if I dumped the same amount of cash you have in your engine into an evo and we lined them up? Just a thought.

btw, here's my car if you want to check it out:
http://evo.giampietro.info/

I got the 'bling' done this week... tinted windows... carbon fiber exhaust guard, alum shifter ****, and I just removed the rear badging (love that clean look). Other than that bling, the car is totally stock... hehe for now.

So yeah, fun to do some runs. Let me know, I'll be at bandy when you are there so at the least we can compare runs there if we don't hook up before then.
See the thing is, do you wanna be like everyone else and have an evo? or do you wanna be one of the few z's that have twins? Yes, an evo is fast stock, it is awd, and it has 4 doors. How more practical and fun to drive can it get right? well, the evo is straight played out, go to a sport compact show and thats all you see, a sea of evos. hey but everyone has their own opinion. Good luck with the Evo!

BTW, that comment was hilarious. Pretty much exactly what happened, except I pulled out of the money pit before even dumping the 3k into my NA setup.

I don't know, seems like the Evo's are the exception not the norm in that sea of 4 door rally cars. I mean, how many total Evo's hit North America, something like 14k, that's it. STi/WRX's, sure, those things are everywhere, and for a reason (great cars too). Hey, just comes down to what you are after, some like to post the biggest HP numbers on the dyno, others aim for 1/4 mile times, and then there is the road course guys. Me, I'm a road course guy, so the Evo suits me perfectly - brembo's are stock, awd + 287 hp turbo, all stock, hard to argue with it as a track car, which was MY thing.

There are guys out there driving SRT-8's because they need to take there family to the movies/dinner, and you know what, that's cool, more power to them. We all choose what works for us.

I ran an Evo & Sti with 35R swaps. Granted their boost was only around 20ishpsi for both but we were neck and neck when I was on 6# of boost . I ran a 8 and 9 on the stock turbo with upped boost and they still weren't any competition granted the 8 was a lot slower than the 9. Although I had the TT kit, so I'm not sure if the powerband really varies much from the single kit at low boost though I wouldnt imagine it would vary much. The new owner of the car ran against a gutted 2600lbs 460awhp bug eye just the other night and spanked it with the boost at 10# on the Z where I left it And that was with the Axis Seven Mods, (19's front and 20's rear and heavy) mounted on the car lol.

RJG - your point with spending the amount I put in mine is definitely valid if you wanna look at it that way, your car would be fast as hell with 15k put into it. But cost aside, bringing what you have to the table, A z running 20psi on properly matched turbo's would spank the hell out of an Evo at the same boost level. The power band is just gonna be much better and higher in the Z due to the larger motor but I'm sure you know this. A 9 with the stock turbo & boost simply won't have a chance against a singel T or TT kit with low boost (6-8psi). A 300awhp car that is heavier than an 03 Z with 380ish and near the same torque with a fat torque band simply wont hang.

Hey, I never once implied or suggest a stock Evo would be any competition to a TT 350z. Might want to re-read what I wrote. I think you are mistaken about the evoIX versus a single turblo z, but I'm going by what I read, so who knows, I'm guessing it would be pretty close actually.

Either way though, I'd still be glad to take on a single or twin on a track for kicks. Personally my aim isn't to have 'the fastest car on earth' - there is always a faster car out there waiting for you to cross its path - but to have fun with a sweet car. For now it's an Evo, there surely will be more fast cars in my future. Perhaps the new Skyline, hehe.

Anyway, been fun, but I'm going to leave you guys alone, a friend was reading this thread and pointed out the 'slap' my face comment which got me a bit fired up at the time. Anyone wants to get together for some friendly fun, track or otherwise, just pm me, I've enjoyed chatting and meeting you guys at the various track/dyno days I've done. Best to all.

What the hell was I thinking posting my opinion on this thread??? How silly was THAT??? That whole fun chat with Juztin was, I don't know, totally pointless, what the hell were we thinking having an interesting conversation about cars without getting all stupid for no reason??? What’s the fun in actually talking intelligently about cars on a forum like this when you can just get stupid!!!

All we need is Sean and his incredible insight and his straight up, man's man tell it like it is AGGRESSION!!! Man I need a moutain dew or something right now I'm so inspired! No better yet, I need to watch a whole bunch of WWF wrestling and FORD F-150 commercials (like a rock man, like a freaking ROCK!!!). YOU ROCK!!!

ALL HAIL MIGHTY SEAN AND HIS MIGHTY AGGRESSION!
