Default shift_problems

Just got back from TC Performance's dyno day today. Needless to say something is up with the car...

Last dyno on Tobi's dyno as 447/401 whp/tq.

Today.... 369/360 whp/tq

That's almost an 80hp loss and 40 tq loss WTF!

It even dyno'd lower than when I just had the wastegate springs pushing ~6.5psi at the MAP!!!! The car then dyno'd 399/380

Don't know what the problem is now, don't think it's a boost leak, but will probably console into the UTEC this week and do some logging to see what kinda boost it's seeing etc. It's running rich obviously but I dont think running rich could account for an 80hp/40tq loss but we'll see.

I dont hear anything mechanically obvious that would be indicitave of a bent rod or anything. But will probably get a compression test done...

Will keep you guys updated, cars going into the shop next saturday.

Also if the problem is easily rectifiable, I'll be installing the return fuel sys, 650cc injectors, 11.6psi wastegate springs, removing the MBC, and getting a ghetto 3" TD exhaust fabbed up and shooting for high 4's if not 5's. So we'll see.

Wow, I know I have to keep a close eye on my couplers. Even though a crank down hard on them, I've had to go in and retighten 3 times. On a personal note, do you have an electronic boost controller. Kev and I just finished install on mine and instructions SUCK. It's the wastegate duty cycle and wastegate srping rate that have me confused. Seems to work better if I shut it off?
Well if you have any knowledge of B.C. call me if you get a chance...

Sorry to hear of your latest SHIFT_problems. From the kind of losses you're looking at, a compression test is mandatory, but not totally definitive. You may not hear anything mechanically, but I'd suggest draining all oil and the filiter. Cut apart the filter and see what's showing up there. Get an oil analysis if anything looks suspicious.

Update, apparently the numbers I got were uncorrected due to Tobi wanting to look at the uncorrected numbers for a Honda EP3 that dyno'd before me which he has built for the customer that did 578/505 hp/tq corrected. That car is downright SCARY.

Looks like this may have been a false alarm, which would seem right since my car has been running as it has forever now with no noticeable issues.

I'm running a Turbo XS MBC right now, but am going with the wategate springs so I may end up selling the MBC. But don't know too much about the boost controllers, I prefer the easy route lol.

Just two quick little video clips from outside the car when I was on my way home from freaking out about the dyno numbers intially.

The open dumps sure do sound a lot different from outside the car lol

I hope it's only because it was uncorrected! I had high hopes for your 90k+ car and it's TT!!!

Thanks guys, the dyno numbers were infact uncorrected. So false alarm lol. But that kinda stuff comes along w/ the territory, was trying to be proactive enough to catch the motor before it failed if it was to salvage it for a rebuild.

My corrected numbers were 435/434 rwhp/tq with the dyno ending at 6200 rpm's. HP was just climbing so it seems like it would be on par with the 447 of my last dyno there if it was ran all the way to 6600. Anyhow I've definately gained torque which is a welcome suprise from the previous 401 tq dyno heheh.

Dropping off the car tomorrow to get the following installed:

*CJM Stg 1
*RC 650cc injectors
*11.6psi wastegate springs
*3" true dual race exhaust fabbed up (will be kinda ghetto but will get the job done)
*Retune obviously

Hopefully will be shooting for 470 or so

Whew, thank God it was a false alarm.

Can't wait to see the numbers on that beast!
