Default Moving to Denver...

I'm moving to denver this winter and I'm looking for some advice about good place to look for an apartment. I don't really know the area so I just wanted to put the question out there.

Thanks

Ill be working in downtown Denver. I'm really excited about moving! So tired of Southern California. How much HP do you think I'll loose and is there any thing I should do to my car to prepare it for high alt. driving?

First welcome to Colorado. Even though your not here yet. We're a great bunch that enjoy our Z/G car very much. Check out www.MileHighZ.com/Forum also. We have monthly meets, attend track and drag events. Just had a very sucessful cruise with around 10 Z cars.

As far as HP lost I would say around 5-10%. Perparing it depends on your mods. I had basic bolt-ons and needed a tune. I was running way too lean. Went UTEC to richen it up. Also suggest a great set of snow tires if it your daily driver. If you can I would sugest buying a second vehicle for the winter.

Hope this helps a little & welcome again!

Hey man, when I get home tonight I will get you some ideas. I am short of time right now at work. I work all over this city every day and have a pretty good idea of what is good and not.

Are you looking to buy a place or rent?
What are you looking to buy or rent? House, apt., townhome?
Single, married?
What do you like to do? I ask cause if you are an outdoorsy type, you may want to be closer to the mtns.

Let me know man.

If your working downtown, governors park is a perfect place to look for apartments, there are a ton of them around here, most with covered or indoor parking. I can give you addresses to a bunch, depending on where downtown your working can probably find you some real good priced stuff within walking distance, i have several friends all staying in the area and have done some pretty exstensive apt shopping both for buy and rent. Best place i would say IMO is right off speer, has garage parking, full gym, and a private movie theater you can use. Prices are real good and the aprtments are really nice.

One thing I forgot to add, which goes without saying of course, is the ample mountain driving you will get to do. The timing is kinda bad for you right now with the winter almost here, but brace yourself for some fun starting in late spring! I have taken short as well as long (with overnight stay) trips in the Rockies; routes are plentiful and each one seems more fun than the last. Gotta love this part of the country!

Oh, and you'll get to tint the front windows

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think I'm going to see about governors park. I do like the outdoors but want to live near work. I also cant wait for some good mountain driving! I don't have much done to my car yet performance wise but, I've been in love with this car since the day I bought it. And yes I also can't wait to tint my side windows! I hate that I can't do that in California.

Welcome and Robert beat me to introducing you to Milehighz.com

If you want to avoid the getto, here's my advice. Avoid anything on S. Federal Blvd. and W. Colfax Ave. No Five Points area or Montbelo and avoid the City of Aurora and ESPECIALLY the City of Sheridan. Cops there are just plain A-holes!

To prepare your car for CO driving.....winter tires and HPDE courses from David K.

The power loss is going to be pretty stiff. It took me 3 months to start enjoying my car again after just being down in TX for 2 weeks. You will lose about 45 rwhp which is about 17%. Most dyno at about 195 rwhp instead of 235 or 240 at sea level.

If you don't mind a commute, Palomino Park in Highlands Ranch is the best place you can possibly stay. It's off of C-470 and Quebec Street. It's a freakin resort. Price is actually really good. But it will be a commute to downtown Denver.

Welcome to Colorado, you are going to love it!

I'll be another to welcome you to Colorado. I am now stuck in Quantico, VA, and really miss it. The people in the Colorado Z community are great. You will love living in the Mile High city.

Actually OP, most of them are great. There's only one officer there that is truly an A-hole. Even drives a Z

So, why are you moving to Denver? I see you sig "Semper Fi", and I'm guessing you're a Marine, like myself, and DevilDogCO1. Only Marines I know of in the Denver area are at Buckley AFB, and recruiters. So, what brings you to Denver?

I'm a former Marine. 6 years active duty then got out and went back to college. Been in San Diego ever since. Just time for a change and I've been out to
Colorado many times before (Grand Junction area) for hunting season with a buddy of mine from the Marines who is from Co. I always liked going out there so when I decided to leave California I decided on Denver.
