We did use the "revised" T10 last Saturday and as Dave90TT says, it is quite a bit slower. Rather than a confidence lift or light brake at corner entry, you must use a medium brake application and third gear. Even using a smooth transition and radius that took the Z to the edge of the track at corner exit, speeds were down 10-12 MPH.

One advantage is that the overall radius of the turn is much smaller, so the bouncing and grinding over the dragstip launch pads is greatly reduced. Since speeds are down and you have to straighten the car up quickly, it might also reduce the chance of big slides (and resulting crashes in the wet) around this infamous turn.

 

Well, some info: it appears that is the same weekend as the State Basketball Championships, which are being held in Pueblo. So, reserve your hotel room now!

I will be going down that Friday morning, for the open track day, as well.

 

I am likely out for the NASA events. NASA's position is that the top of the helmet cannot protrude from/above a line from the windshield to the integrated roll bar. While i haven't performed this test, I'm pretty sure my head sticks up beyond this imaginary line, unless i'm in a "low rider recline" position. I'll verify this at home tonight, but i'm not hopeful.

i'll hand it to them--they're having me go to the tech inspection at Hank's Hotrods in Littleton so he can check it out, but I'm not confident I'll pass. But, I'll give it the most hunched over i can get.

 

NASA is a very friendly group. Although it is a business in the end, the people that run it are really great, and will work with you to get you on the track. Of course, there are some safety rules that you have to follow, and this looks to be one of them. Alogn with being a friendly group, they don't want anyone to get hurt out there.

One thing: if you have power seats, there is a free mod out there that you can do that gives you about one more inch of lowering in the seat. I'll see if I can find the thread that talks about it.

Just an FYI, the Comfort Inn (719-542-6868) still has rooms available. I told them I was there with the NASA group and they gave me a discounted single room for $65.99 Saturday night (ask for Liza). If you book with them, don't rely on Google maps to get you there - it's been wrong for over a year. They are across the parking lot from the Desert Rose restaurant.

It doesn't look like I will be making this event. As much as I want to go, I will have to pass because several things are due in March for me. Money allocated for my monthly car/fun funds is going to be used to pay for 6 months of insurance and to fix/upgrade my now fried main computer system. Between the two, it will eat up enough to where I can't set aside enough to where I would comfortable going on a road trip. As much as it sucks, there are more events coming. I plan to make the next event. For those who are going to make the event, have a great time!

NASA Rocky Mountain is a great organization, and I fully recommend them. You got here at a good time, it looks like two new tracks are opening up this year, as well.

 

No, not in the military anymore. My wife and I wanted to get out of the rat race in SoCal....changed jobs and loving it up here. I wasnt into the suburban sprawl down there. Hopefully I can get out to some track events this year!!! Would love to do that....I need to get my car retuned up here at altitude though, where is the best place to go?

 

Couple of good places. I've been to two, and can recommend them both. MAC Autosports in Parker (southeast Denver) and TCPerformance, in centralnorthern Denver.

Both did a good job; MAC specializes in the UTEC, and TC is now experienced with the Haltech, after having done a couple. TC has a Dynapack, which is good for holding load, and holding rpm's, while MAC has an AWD Dynoject.

They both do work on VQ35's, as well.

 

well, i am officially out of any NASA event--I went to Hanksville Hotrods in Highlands Ranch for a technical inspection and the roll bar on the 350 roadster is too low.

 

Thats too bad. I wonder if it is possible to get a roll bar in it, without damaging anything, or hurting the function of the droptop?

 

Thanks....I have a JWT with the Split Second piggyback....shouldnt be too hard for an experienced tuner. I had it dynoed at sea level and it was 504 rwhp and 567 rwtq, what should I expect the numbers to be at altitude? Havent heard anything about power differences for altitude....thanks for the help!!!

 

since i'm out of this deal as a driver, are spectators allowed? i might come down for Saturday if so.

 

This may be an option for me as well. I might be able to make it down for a day of the event. Maybe I can at least do a couple of rides to get a feel for it. I wanted to attend the whole event as a driver, but other cost incursions and not being to get the days off are holding me back.

I would love to go and it would be the first event for me, but I just got promoted at my job and don't want to take off my only 3 days I work so soon. I would like to meet some of you it sounds like alot of fun. I might go if they have some in the summer. For the rest of you, have fun!

 

Spectating is free, but you do have to sign a waiver. Just tell them at the gate you are with NASA.

Anyone in HPDE 3, HPDE 4, or Time Trials can have a passenger in their car, at their discretion. If they are going for a hot lap in TT, they will probably not want a passenger. You will need a helmet, but their are always plenty of helmets around for you to borrow.

I personally have no problems letting you ride with me.
