Cool Fund Raiser
I received an invite today to a private fundraiser that sounds like it would be an absolute BLAST.
There will be eight cars for the event, of which I'd be able to drive 6 during the day of the event, for approx 30 minutes each. Determination of which cars you have an opportunity to drive is by lottery.
The cars:
Corvette Z06
Dodge Viper SRT-10
(Here's where it gets really fun...)
Lamborhini Gallardo
Lotise Elise
Ford GT
Noble M-400
Porsche 997 TT
Ferrari F430
Kinda crazy, eh? Not sure if I can afford the cost of the fundraiser ($1500) right now, but it is certainly an amazing opportunity to drive some incredible cars. Maybe I can talk to my wife into a special birthday present...

If you really support the cause, then maybe it's worthwhile. I've seen that price bandied about for "road tests" of those same models. You'll have a chaparone riding along and it's all on city streets. Don't expect to be able to wind them up much at all!
This event will take place in the mountains -- and there's no chaparone...in fact, you can bring a passenger.
You're right though: its not like taking them out on a track and doing 150+ MPH.
All things considered, I'd probably be more likely to put the money into my Z...maybe some track wheels?
On the other hand, if they have a GTR next year...who knows?
