Default Speaker install wrap-up

Well, we had ourselves a nice, HOT day in my garage. My thanks to Shogun (Joe to us) for all his help, experience and tools. Also, Gary came by with lots of OJ, but we missed Daryl!

The upshot is that after pulling off the door panels and test fitting both the MB Quart tweeters and bass speakers, there were some significant problems. The tweeters are quite a bit larger than anticipated and will require some work as will the bass units. I made the decision to have a pro come in and complete both the speaker install as well as the amp. It was clear that we'd just be experimenting with a pricey car to go forward.

Still, I think we all learned something and I really enjoyed everyone's company. Howard stopped by with his tricked out Z32 and pronounced my 350Z a worthy Z car. I think Gary liked the suspension mods and we learned that my culdesac makes a wicked skidpad LOL!

I'll be curious to find out what solution the pros are able to come up with for fitting those tweeters. It's too bad we weren't able to make them fit, but I think you made we made the right call to have the professionals take a look at it.

Thanks again David for letting me take your car for a spin. I definitely liked the suspension mods, and I have to say that you're lucky for living on that culdesac. I can only imagine the skipdpad action you can get on that when it rains!

I wish I could have made it, sorry I missed out.

I did however get fitted for my new race car, picture is attached. This new car is much faster then my Z, but doesn't turn as well.

Yea, the stock tweet is just too small. I went ahead and did a full kick for the focal 165 w3's.

Wow Brian, that looks like it's almost as tight a fit as the S2000 cockpit.

Based on the fact I just read this post I don't think I'm going to make it. However, I 'm also looking into that MB setup so it's nice to hear feed back on the install. See you guys on the 3rd.

Sorry, no joy. The installer that I want to work with is booked through next week. The plan is to have him install both the U.S. Acoustics 2-channel amp and the MB Quarts on Saturday 8/2. Guess I'll have to use the Sunday get-together for the testing.

Although the install itself took a few hours longer than expected, the results of the MB Quart/U.S. Acoustics install were good. The Discus series separates up front offer sonic clarity and sufficient bass to meet my needs. The amp's 100/watts per channel power really make the speakers come alive.

Kept the stock rears to offer some rear fill and the install looks absolutely stock! Yesterday, at our 350Z run, several people had the chance to sample the upgrade and everybody gave it thumbs up.

My thanks to Shogun for his help in picking components and helping me decide that a pro installer was called for!
