Default Any Colorado Drivers with a lighter flywheel installed?

It's time to replace my clutch and flywheel. I would like to go with the JWT combo set up, but am concerned about the cement mixer sound. Anyone near Colorado Springs that has a similar set up, so I could hear for myself what this noise is and if it's really a factor?

Thanks

Andrew

ACT PROLITE 13 lbs vs stock 25lbs, with JW 1200 kg (?) clutch. I don't have much noise. I could not stand the problems I was having at Bandimere prior to install with stock setup... I'm happy, but I have heard complaints like your concerns.

Thanks, I wouldn't mind listening to it sometime to see how much noise is there. I just had my car at the shop and they said the clutch is fine, still has lots of life left in it, so at least I don't have to replace it now, just if I want to get rid of the shudder on launch, but that has been very infrequently lately.

I made this for someone else on another forum, but you might find it helpful...

Thanks that is helpful. I notice my stock combo makes some what of a rattle noise when I back out or just start to launch, but I just noticed it now that I am listening for it and it doesn't bother me. Yours doesn't really sound that loud either.

Does yours make the noise as you launch too or just when engaged in neutral?

It does sound different when I launch our even when I just give it a lot of throttle near the bottom of the tach.

Unlike the cement mixer sound the car has at idle, the sound it has when launching sounds more purposeful.

I just went back and listened to some video of my test and tune runs from my last autocross event, but you can't hear the sound on the tape.

It's hard to describe but I can put it this way; When idling the car sounds broken. When launching, the car just sounds angry. (I like it myself)

I had a just recently had a JWT clutch and flywheel put in at the dealership on Academy and Fountain Blvd.

I have not heard anything out of the ordinary at all. I had asked the very same thing before I got mine.

Thanks for the input. What did they charge you to install them?

The dealership on Woodmen seems expensive on just about everything they quote

I want to say like $750. But I had them install the clutch, flywheel, steel, braided clutch line, upgraded pilot bearing, and maybe something else, upgraded clutch fluid, but I am not sure on the last.

Lol

I'm trying to find a good shop in the Denver area. I've been to Mac Auto and Speed Image, but those are the only two I know of.

I know I'm totally thread jacking, but any recommendations? I will probably still use Intense & Z1 for purchases, but I'm contemplating having to drive down to Intense for an FI install.

How about you PM me.

You have been around awhile, and I don't want to make a mistake with a shop I know nothing about.
