Default Licensing in Colorado

I am new to Colorado and will be getting my 2004 350Z in a few weeks. Does anyone from the area know about how much it will cost to get my car licensed and new plates? I hear that it is expensive.

Thanks for any info..

Look forward to $600.00 to $700.00. However, next year the gash won't be quite as deep.

You should be able to get more specific numbers from Denver county or whatever county is appropriate for you.

It seems I paid $635.00 the first year for my enthusiast. It will vary depending on how much you pay for the vehicle.

Thanks for the info....

I was afraid it was going to be that much.

I guess the first mod for the Z will be licence plates. I will need to hold off on the Nismo pipes for a few paychecks.

Speaking of plates, I was pulled over by CSP for not displaying a front tag up near Hot Sulphur Springs. The Trooper let me off with a warning, but since I drive up there alot, I did break down and put the front tag on (using the Zee Bracket).

I paid $607 for my registration in Denver County. That’s with a purchase cost of $18k and a taxable cost of $30K. I’m not sure how the taxable cost was calculated, but the final cost from the dealer was $34K for the Touring.

Over the past few years, I’ve gotten two tickets for not having a front license plate in downtown Denver, $15 each. They were tacked on to expired meter tickets. I’m absolutely opposed to being forced to have a front license plate. So not putting on the plate is my protest with civil disobedience, kind of like Ghandi without starving.

I agree in principle that the front tag is a pain, but I try whatever I can do to avoid road side law enforcement interaction.

I licensed my 2004 Enth. Roadster in Sept. '03. After paying state and RTD tax at the dealer, I paid the County of Jefferson and the City of Arvada another $1961.58 for the pleasure of licensing my new toy. That included $1200 of city tax which won't be applicable next year so that will make the fee around $700.

I agree. Like they teach in Economics classes around the country...whenever you get upset about the cost of living in Colorado, just look out the window. That's what you're paying for (and it's worth it, in my opinion.)

Is this the locally famous AA from BPI? Didn't know you had a Z.

I paid around $640 for my 04.

I only paid $295 to license my 99 vette in Alabama. Needless to say I was a little shocked at the DMV!
