February Angeles Crest Full Run

Our last cruise to Santa Barbara in November was very nice. But, There is no substitute for a fun canyon run. I think we will be due for a small get together in the new year. I'd really like to go to Angeles Crest again, have lunch at Newcombs and really spend the day going around Angeles Crest. The past few times we've done the Crest, it's been a short run, this time, I'd really like to do the whole length.
What I'm thinking is a start in Pasadena and take Highway 2 all the way to San Bernardino with a stop at Newcombs Ranch. And, a return back to Pasadena with another stop at Newcombs. This will be a whole day run doing both directions of Highway 2 as outlined in green below:

Needless to say, CHP are out in force on this road, it is one of two zero tolorance Highways in California and therefore, we will be traveling in spirited fashion but will be observing speedlimits.
Full details about this Angeles Crest maybe found here:

A February date will give us ample time to select dates. If you're interested in attending, please put your name and available dates below. The date will be selected in January based upon a majority availability.
The run will start at the usual Shell station spot at 9:00 a.m. with a departure time of 9:30 a.m.

1. HFM 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, 27
2.
3.
In my experience, a full run may not be possible in Feb if the snow stays around. And if the weather stays cold, there will be plenty of sand and cinders on the road.
Angeles Forest and Upper Big Tujunga might be better options, as they are at a lower elevation.
Food for thought.

NO WAY! I went their about 2-3 years ago with my other car around this time and their was so many ROCK CHIPS on my friend end, no way you can pay me to go.. The snow also screwed my car's paint up. ARghh! Good luck to those who go, your car will get BEAT UP badly... No doubt its a fun drive, specially if you have AWD (EVO, WRX) but just to much debri on the road...

I've never done this run.... I would love to come but I'd be in my super busy season. But if the date is right, I may come. Put me in as tentative for now. (So far the date good for me is 2/5).

I'm so with you on this. I still have marks on my bumper and windshield from the rocks on the very first run. If this is going to be a rockfest, we will move location.

Why not take a cruise to santa barbara like last time, i know alot of people couldnt make it because of the other getogether but maybe in feb. they can......
that would b a safe run to do or no............
Tentatively in. The dates all suck for me (2-week trial starting Feb. 7; wedding Feb. 27), but I really want to go and play with my new 6-speed, so I'm going to see if I can make it.
Ditto on the rock chips though, but they're not a deal breaker by themselves.
Thanks for organizing Dan!
