Tax time is approaching!
Sup guys and gals. Well its just about that time of year again for the dreaded deed of filing taxes. As some of you know, I am a CPA by trade specializing in the tax area when I am not putting down 911 chicken wings at Hooters . I wanted to take this opportunity to offer up my services to anyone in the So Cal area that may be in need of some tax advice. I can help you with the filing of your personal income taxes as well as with any businesses you may also be responsible for filing.
I did returns for a couple members on the boards last year and am looking to do a few more this year. All conversations and work performed are confidential. The 350Z discount will also apply to all work performed My motto is, the more you get back, the more you have for mods!
If you have any questions or would like to get in touch with me, send me a PM, an email (djk487@gmail.com), or hit me up on aim (djk487).

Scott,
Can you answer once or two general questions man. I have an accountig degree, but never practice it.
I have been supporting my in laws this year (living with us). I provide shelter, food, utilities. Total is more than 50% of what they put out (spent).
They are both retired elderly receiving SSA (social security). I am planning to claim them as dependents.
I know the answers to these two question, but I have to ask anyways:
In the tax literature, gross income is almost anything that is not exempt from tax.
Is SSA a tax exempt? I am assuming it is.
Also, the combined SSA monthly is $1100.
Btw, do you all know that you can choose to deduct state income OR sales income!! Sales income can be sales tax you pay for the vehicle last year. Which is more, you should choose the higher.
Thanks in advance.
Tony

Go to the social security benefits worksheet on page 27.
Yes its true that in 2004, if you file a schedule A (itemized deductions), you may choose to deduct the higher of your California income tax paid OR your sales tax paid. Generally speaking, this new change in the law does not really affect California residents since the income tax rates are higher than sales tax rates (CA income tax rates reach 9.3% very quickly vs 7.75-8.25% for sales tax) It is true though in some cases, your sales tax will be higher than your income tax (for instance if you have a big ticket purchase like a vehicle).

Scott,
Both of my parent in laws are 72 & 76, so I can claim them with the three test past?
I have heard that if I claim them, the Social Security Department can reduce their monthly payment as much as $40 bucks per person. Do you know that is true?
Btw, when I say i supported them this year, i meant to say last year.
Thanks man.
