Stock brakes at Buttonwillow on the 27th ?
I’m planning to attend the Buttonwillow race day on Sunday February 27th. I raced my roadster a couple of times at the Steets of Willow Springs but I have never been to Button. Does anybody plan on going on the 27th?
I run stock brakes on the roadster, and did not encounter any problems at the streets. However, I’m concern about a fast track such as Buttonwillow. By the way, the track configuration is track#1 CCW.
Did anybody run over there on stock brakes?
Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

There is a thread on the North America > Southern California on this site in reguards of Buttonwillow.
I'll be there on the 26th as a pasenger (I still have to check my schedule to see if I can attend), I never ran on this track and prefer to take a ride-around day to get familiar with the track.
You can take your stock brakes with you, but make sure there is a good amount of padding left. I read that its recommended to:
1. Bleed out and flush out the old brake fluid, and use higher grade hi-temp brake fluids.
2. It's advise you get a nice set brake pads. I think people recommended Hawk HP's something like that.
3. You'll need a SA95+ Helmet.

i very much suggest you change the pads, i baked my factory pads bad. They have a really low operation temp.
I run endless pads now, and love them. ive got a spare set I was gonna put on my moms car but she doesnt need them that I can sell you.

in my opinion,
the stock 11.7/11.5 brakes aren't up to duty for any track/performance driving.
even with rotors/pads/lines/fluid, they still fade fast and suck soon.
i ran at buttonwillow during a cold day, and my brakes were fully smoking after 4-5 laps. same at streets, a little better at big willow.
my car is auto though, so no heel-toing to slow down.

Regarding you stickers of course they dont hold up as good as a big brake kit or even the brembos on the track model, but dont invest in a BBK if you just track ocassionally, but thats up to you. Your enjoyment of Buttonwillow isnt really contingent of having stock brakes or aftermarket. I have run it numerous times both ways you should be fine. But now I have a BBK.
The weather looks ok for Sunday, I will definitely be there. I hope to see some Zs.
I usually don't have too much problem at the Streets (if it is not too hot), we'll see how the stock brake (HPS pads and ATE fluid) handle the Buttonwillow... track
