I noticed in another Buttonwillow thread that some people are interested in a weekend event, so I thought I'd give this post a bump.
For all you track newbies, you won't find a better learning environment than this. All-day in-car instruction is included in the price, and instructors have considerable competition driving experience. Plus, the relaxed environment makes it easy to learn without the pressure of competition-oriented events.
Do contact the track soon if you'd like to attend, as these events can sell out (they limit the number of cars to keep track time high and traffic low). Bring friends and family, and they can get a ride with an instructor to see what it's like out there on the track. And feel free to ask me any questions.

$300 bucks is kind of steep since I might only use it once. But, it looks nice and would work with glasses.

$200 bucks sounds better. I need a very basic helmet for $100 - $150. If anyone has more suggestions, I'm all ears.
Yes, I'm sure a caravan would work if we do this. In fact, that's definitely the way to head up there as far as I'm concerned.

I'm thinking of just renting the helmet for now since I am not sure if I go to these tracks often. I heard they have a head sock over which you wear the helmet. So it should be alright... hopefully. Regardless, I need to register first... I emailed the guy to see if there is any availablity for the upcoming date (5/1) but has not received any reply back yet.

I picked up a helmet at Del Amo Motorsports off the 405 in lennox/hawthorne.
...
for like 120 bucks... It's a cheapy motorcycle helmet. I just had problems with my head being big!!!
But they are fine in pricing...
