I'll be there. Just a word of caution, the Z gets a little squirmy on the track, so make sure you have some treads left on the tires. Lowering the rear tire pressure down to 25 PSI helps.

In addition, if you don't make it to line up by 12 pm, don't expect to get in.

Yes. I recommend one if you drag or if you are running a low profile or both. 20 buck for a mini one at Pepboys.

I'll bring my mini air compressor, I have a few friends that have better ones also.

From the looks of things, I guess 2 Z's will make it out there for CSW. Then again, I may be the only one.

It was around 90's + humid icky stuff, some headwind, heatsoak was a problem also. Elevation roughly 1300'. It's CSW, not the best track known to man on track preping, but where else besides Palmdale can you get 1/4's .

1st Run

Right Lane:
R/T: .057 (.000 is perfect in CSW)
60': 2.155 (Stock OEM size of 235/50/17 rears )
330: 6.209
1/8: 9.499
MPH: 77.01
1000: 12.298
1/4: 14.663
MPH: 95.90
Note: an 05 Mustang 5-Speed Manual did 14.4@96 (his first time running, 2.1 60'). That's just how hot and miserable the weather/conditions were. He may have done better later, but he left before I can get more slips from him. Regular WRX's were doing roughly 15.1 to 15.3s on the track.

2nd Run

Right Lane:
R/T: .129
60': 2.172
330: 6.201
1/8: 9.483
MPH: 77.50
1000: 12.315
1/4: 15.098 (The classic violent wheelhop from 3rd to 4th, I had to let-off)
MPH: 81.29
Note: Wheelhop on 3rd to 4th was nasty, but I barely beat a 04 G35 Coupe (he had a bad launch off the line ~2.5 60'). On the streets I don't have the 3rd to 4th violent wheelhop, just at California Speedway.

3rd Run

Left Lane:
R/T: -.129 (I have an itchy foot)
60': 2.322 (I spun off the line, sucked for the ET)
330: 6.389
1/8: 9.687
MPH: 76.70
1000: 12.468
1/4: 14.833
MPH: 96.51

Overall, running in the hot weather blowed + sucky track condtions. At least it was fun for me. I met up with Kenny (or was it Mike, I suck with names) and his brother (Johnny), they had some runs in. Not sure on Kenny's last timeslip, I know his first few runs were not too great. There was another Z owner there, but he pretty much wanted nothing to do with us, I guess people are right that stock 350Z owners tend to be cold.

Thanks for the report FLZ_Boy. Don't sweat it, You'll do at least a half second faster ni cooler weather. I did 13.9 there pretty much bone stock, but it was a cold night. BTW, I've never had wheel hop - ever. Slippage yes, but that's it. I have stock wheels and tires.

FLZ_BOY you got to get those cooling mods. Did you do any race preps? Maybe next time you should bring an industrial fan to cool between runs.

Nice reaction time btw on the first run.

I have this 50/50 chance that going from 3rd to 4th I will get this nasty sounding and violent wheelhop at California Speedway. On the streets, I don't have wheelhop problems going from 3rd to 4th. This is just a California Speedway problem I have.

I don't ice down my plenum or doing anything other than open the hood and let the Z cooldown. However, CSW was cycling through the groups fast and I only had 1 hour ~ 15 minutes for a cooldown period (the Z needs more like a 2 hour cool down period w/o ice) on each run.

13.9 is attainable, but the conditions at CSW makes it kinda impossible. I haven't seen a Z do 13.9 at CSW, 14.1 was the best I've seen (doesn't mean someone hasn't done 13.9). I have to see frenzee drive at CSW, perhaps my shifting speed is really slow.

I'll probably wait till the winter time and run the private days and hopefully I get into the low 14's. I have pretty much have the 60's almost down to a science, but finishing the 1/4 miles at mid 14's is usually caused by slow shifting. However, most stock cars at CSW do average 0.5 to 0.8 of a second slower than the stated magazine times.

Sometimes I do get the impression that drivers at CSW do really suck and their is only a handful of exceptional few.

I hope the new Mopar drag strip is preped nicely and hopefully the 1/4 mile faces the opposite direction of the headwind. However, I don't like the idea that the elevation is 2,100 feet.

All the NA motor cars all sure seem to act like they are at 2,200 feet @ CSW, but yes, CSW states they are at 1,100 feet roughly.

I believe it has to do with the air density and such as well, that's where the 2200 comes from. I remember they used to have that posted as well.
Bottomline it's yet another slow track with strong head winds
