Gah, my car is FILTHY and I have no way of cleaning it before I leave tomorrow because I have a final exam from 3-6pm.
Please don't judge me based on the extreme level of filth and dirt that covers my vehicle.
Also, I have no time to run out and buy painter's tape. Cheston will you have any?
kthxbai!

my car did not get finished in time. Can't make it to the track day
Some lucky sole will get my slot.

Our cars are going to get filthy from the track anyway. I'm a firm believer in a good layer of dust protecting from rock chips.
One of my mottos in road racing is "a clean car is a fast car." I've spent many an hour at the race track washing and waxing between sessions. Cleanliness also makes it easier to find fluid leaks, cracks, etc. That said, freshly painted or "for sale" race cars are often prone to crashes...
BTW, I'm heading up early tomorrow morning from the South Bay. So if you see a red Evo on the road at 6 am, that'll be me.

likewise, mike. it was a great experience. only downside was the 4+hr drive from san diego thru LA traffic and back
. btwn the long drive and the thrashing at the track, i simply have to find a track closer to home.

I had a B L A S T !!!! Good see all of you that came out! And those who didn't.... you missed out!
There were a lot of fast guys in the returning group - those blue vetts were friggin fast! And the ole schoool Porche. I talked to the Porche guy and said that he used to race every weekend up until 3 years ago. Also, the Vet guys race everyweekend too.... hmm... no wonder they were wicked fast.
Most of all, thank you so much, Scott Webb, for instructing me for one entire session!! I once again learned how much the correct lining is important in smooth (and eventualy faster) driving. After that session with you, I was so much more confident in taking almost all of the corners..... But I went to the skid pad course afterward, and I was only able to put in only one more lap by myself after your instruction. I might have to go back out there again.... BTW, hope you can get your Z back.

Great talking to you guys Cheston, Mike, Matt, Sho, Scott, and great meeting Angie too. I'm glad everybody stayed safe and had fun. And Matt, the car definitely takes a beating at the track - it's really hard to track your "baby." Hehe, there's a reason why I didn't replace my bumper after I hit a cone a couple of events before, I figured I'd just hit another one at some point. And it's pricey too -- I think I might head up to Sears Point in the spring, if I can justify the time, expense, pounding on the car, tires, hotel rooms, and the list goes on..... And Mike, track/seat time is really all anybody needs.

hello all.
yes. the drive up on Friday nite was quite scary. the fog was terrible. the weather.. good for the car, bad for my nose and fingers. it was cool meeting up with you all.
there were a few 'loose' cannons out there, granted some were really newbies.. like that new LS7 Z06.. but i still had a blast... once i got bumped to Red group, oh boy. i really had fun then.. i consistantly hit 110+ on the main straights and right before Mazda star turn, and right before the 90 degree turn onto the main strait..
we all have to do this again some time.
maybe in the spring time. hehe.

It sounds like you guys had a lot of fun! I'm sorry I missed out on it. While you guys were blasting through the turns at Buttonwillow in your Zs, I was putting around town Christmas shopping in my beast of a Camry...
(The only interesting thing about this car is the rather powerful side brake...)
I'll definitely be there for the March one, so I hope you guys make it out again!

Boy, I wish I could've gone this time but there was no way. I definitely want to go to the spring session! One good thing after finishing work, I was able to get my Kinetics plenum installed and boy what a different in rear torque! I just might be flying by the vets in the spring time once I get my car flashed by technosquare! ha!
Sho sounds like you learned more the second time around, huh? Hopefully u will be there for the spring run if you still have the Z.

I'm glad to hear that everyone had a good time. I wish I could have spent more time with some of you, but I don't think I was off the track for any of the day's sessions. No wonder I was tired when I got home. See you all in March!
