Default Volk problems..

So I've had my sf challenges for who knows how long now..at least 1.5 years I would say and recently I've been noticing the clearcoat on my lip deteriorating faster than a ***** on crack. My clearcoat is freakin turning rainbow colors, it's as if something in the air is messing with my clearcoat. I've read a thread on this before but I think it got deleted as I can't seem to find it anymore. People were saying it could possibly be wheel cleaners or something but man I just use soap and water and a bit of wax every now and then. Any ideas on what's causing this and if its possible to get rid of the tarnish on my lips? It's literally disgusting to look at, worse than a fat girl with acne. What can I do to fix this? Does anyone know some quality shops that can re-polish or even perhaps chrome my lip? I'm getting tired of my rims looking bad...

thanks in advance

It could be a number of things, but my guess its either tire dressing, road elements like oil (since it rained recently) or small asphalt debris (rained recently) that is chipping away the clear coat. Once the clear coat goes any oily base liquid will cause that rainbow color. You will probably never get that clear coat again (costly), so get them repolished and enjoy waxing more frequently.

just get them polished. it looks better. drawback is extra maintenance i.e. washing every week and repolish every 6 months or year.

I'm not an expert, but I know a little about how to care for chrome since I've owned several Harleys. My guess is that the was the problem. If you talk to people in the motorcycle industry they will tell you to never wax your chrome. The chrome needs to breathe and the was keeps that from happening. If you want to use something more than soap and water buy a product strictly for chrome buy a chrome polish and stay away from waxes.

Yeah but my lips aren't chrome...they're polished. I want to get them chromed now though...although I don't know if this a good idea or not.
