I feel confident enough to make the deposit on the track myself, and with the generous help of Eagle1. I hope that everybody comes through so that we can make our money back, otherwise we just signed up for a very expensive track day for the two of us lol. I am waiting for a reply on the costs of the 3.1 mile configuration as opposed to the 2.2 mile. I plan on going with the 3.1 mile since we can accomodate more cars on the longer track and be more spread out. We are going full blown with this event, ambulance, safety crew, corner workers, instructors for the beginner group, and so on. I am also starting to make a website for this event so I don't have to update this thread on the 4 forums its posted on. Hopefully we get a good number of sponsors for this event to help out with the costs.

I am going to set up a PayPal account for driver registration, donations, and sponsor fees today so if anybody wants to confirm their spot, make a donation, or become a sponsor PM me for details and we will get this thing going! The more money we get, the better the event is going to be. This is non-profit so any extra money goes towards lunch raffle prizes or whatever else we can buy for the event!

I don't mind being an instructor for some of the noobs. I have some experience doing this... It's fun for me too if I can help someone enjoy their track experiences more as well as being both faster and safer.

Ok bad news. Just got off the phone with the track and they are not available that weekend, that monday or the weekend after SEMA. In fact, they are all booked on the weekends until 2007. I have put in a call to Las Vegas Motor Speedway to see if their outdoor road course is available and I am awaiting a call back. Sorry guys. Everything is on HOLD right now, our last chance is LVMS.

Big Willow wouldn't work on that weekend for sponsors as they will all be heading up to SEMA. Thats why the NV tracks would have been good. We will do this track day either way, but it may be in Cali and on a different weekend.

Darn, that sucks!!! I really wanted to drive at Spring Mountain again.

Booked up EVERY weekend until 2007? That is amazing...

Have you guys driven the LVMS road track? Never seen it... but it can't possibly be as much fun as Spring Mountain.

Ah, too bad.
We can look around for another one. I would be shocked if LVMS was open on SEMA weekend, but worth checking of course.
Maybe Cal Speedway, Buttonwillow, Sears Point....what about Reno Fernley? They have a new extension that takes their track up to almost four miles and is supposed to be pretty cool. Do a serious track day there, party that night, caravan to Vegas the next day. Party the next night. Could do worse than that most of the year!

28th looks open based on their calendar, but it may not be updated. Mike, give them a call and then see if we can keep the momentum going. Let us also check the historical weather for the region at that time of year just in case there happens to be a monsoon season (lol). It looks to me like it rains all of 5 inches a year up there.

Some pictures from the air of the track and also of its extension construction late last year. Looks like several options and plenty of challenge, like Pahrump.

Cool, a new 4.1 mile track! Looks like great fun. Pretty new, only paved since 2003.

Too bad it is SO FAR AWAY - 920 miles for me. 14 hours to drive. Doubt you'll get many takers from Arizona, except maybe die-hard track junkies like me.

It is a schlep. From LA it is 550 miles. Easy to do, just up I-5, then east on I-80. But long.

For comparison, to get to Thunderhill from LA it is about 470 miles and 7 hours.

Pulling a trailer, it is going to be a bit longer. Need to take a granola bar and a bottle of water. Once a year to run that track, it is worth it. Much better for the NorCal crowd

The haul from Fernley to Las Vegas is pretty long too, about 413 miles and 8.5 hours, down highway 95.

I'm not sure how many people and sponsors we could get all the way up there. Most of the action is in SoCal.

Well, LVMS wont even entertain the idea since we are not corporate backed not to mention they are literally twice the price of SMMR, so it looks like we are moving onto California tracks. Which one do you guys want to try first? We will also need a new date so throw ideas out for that one as well.

I vote Buttonwillow.
