Thumbs up Gauging Interest: 350Z/G35 only track day in Pahrump, NV

Like the title says, I am gauging interest for a 350Z/G35 only track day in Pahrump the weekend before SEMA, October 28th or 29th, SEMA starts on the 31st. This will be a one day event and a private rental so we would not be teaming up with anybody else but ourselves. We do have some major hurtles to get figured out before this thing can become a reality though so lets start with the first one, price. The price is $200 per person for a full day of track racing on the awesome 2.2 mile configuration of Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch. The price to rent the track for one day on the weekend is $3500 so thats roughly 18 people that we need to be fully committed. Once we get at least 18 people, I will set up a PayPal account and everybody will need to put in $100 ASAP as the track requires a 50% deposit to reserve the date. So the first task is getting 18 people who are seriously interested and will be able to provide the $200 when we need it. If we have more than 18 people we can discuss what to do with the extra money. This will be non-profit, so the more people that sign up, the more the price goes down. Lets start the list...

Please put your name or username and mark it with either committed or maybe...

This has potential to be an AWESOME event people and we should have more than enough time to plan this thing to perfection.

350ZNV I'm not trying whatsoever to thread jack but I have something that could play into this. I myself was planning a Turbonetics Owners Rally/Gathering pre-SEMA. A lot of stuff still needs to be worked out but the plan was to get Turbonetics from as far away as the East Coast to rally and make the trip to SEMA the week prior. This track day could be the last stop prior to SEMA. We should probably chat about this offline. Got AIM?

Mike B. : I very much liked the long configuration of 3.5 miles that we ran with Speed Ventures. How much does that cost? It could be that we will be better off running that configuration because it really spreads the cars out and gives you room to run more cars at a time, with less congestion. Since everybody should have down time, you will want to be thinking in terms of at least two run groups, and possibly three. You also need to factor in the cost of the standby ambulance and tow service, and maybe a liability policy for the day, unless those are all part of the track rental package (which I doubt). The bottom line, is that it will cost what it will cost, and if we can get enough cars, all of those aspects will be covered as they are by the lads that do this professionally. There is also the chance that if you had enough guys, you could get one of those folks like Aaron to just do it for you for a reasonable surcharge. I think that you won't have any trouble getting 30 cars or even more with thus much lead time...and if you do...there are always some other car groups that would love to go. That time of year in the desert is beautiful weather.

That is a great idea Mike. I will sign up for the list to run that day. And if your new friend from NJ makes it out for SEMA, he definitely gets a ride in some VRT iron. (Maybe, if he is really nice, somebody will even let him drive one for a few laps?) Glad everyone is on the same page.
I think that there are some new performance parts going to be available for Z and G cars around that time to talk about too, so very good timing. More about that later.

All of that stuff will be addressed as we go on, but for now, I just want to get to that 18 person mark so I know we have enough interest. The more people we get, the more money we have to make it a better event with ambulance, corner workers, timing, etc that could be brought into the picture depending on the amount of people we get. I would also like to do the 3.1 (trust me its better than the 3.5), but the prices for that aren't listed. Again, if we get enough people that will definately be discussed. I will break everybody into 3 run groups and WILL be doing a tech inspection on every car. I would like to try and keep it all Zs & Gs for now, but if we all agree as the date grows closer, we can open it up to other car clubs and groups.

I am trailering my car and have room on the trailer rack for three more tires in addition to the spare set of four that I take, so if you can carry one wheel in your trunk, then you are set.

Philthy, you have a dozen guys standing in line inviting you to have a great day at the track and then buy you a drink after.....and Vegas beckons thereafter, the bright lights, the music, the girls, and the VRT tatoo on your chest when you "come to" the next morning. Sign up, you are going to love it

Ok well I talked to MIAPLAYA and he is putting together a huge Turbonetics owner cross country drive and he is going to see if they would be interested in making this track day their last stop. He is already working with sponsors for his event and hopefully he can carry them on to this event. If they do want to do that, then it takes this event to a whole new level. We will have event sponsors, and a ton more cars. If this is the case, the event will be strutured differently. I will then put the deposit on the track myself to make sure we have that day reserved. Ambulance, corner workers, towing, optional timing, etc will be happening and then we will divide the total price up, minus the money from the sponsors, and that will be the entry fee.

For now, we will continue as planned, but I have a feeling this is going to get HUGE
