San Diego owners,dealer service question
I took mine to Mossy Kearny Mesa. I don't think I will go there again. It seems like they are overbooked. So many cars piling up and this is at 8 am. It took them an hour to do my oil change. Ridiculous. Staff is none too friendly either. However, they do have a pretty knowledgable tech there.
I bought my car at Mossy El Cajon, and I think I will bring my car there for the next oil change instead. They have a larger/cleaner facility and have less traffic.
Kearny is closer to me which makes it appealing, but if an oil change takes an hour, then it totally negates the point of going there. El Cajon is farther away, and I am not sure of how quickly they respond either.
Which one are you planning on?

I was thinking about El Cajon, Oceanside, or Pacific. My girlfriend goes to Pacific for her Sentra and she says its okay. But I havent been to any of them yet since this is my first Nissan. Wondering where you guys are taking your cars since I know some of you have taken them in for service. Distance isnt really an issue, I just want service that I can trust and if the customer service is good, then thats a welcome bonus.

It it's just a matter of the oil change yourself, it's easier than one might think; if it's a matter of service records, then I can't really offer any input. Sometimes I often con template the idea that if college wasn't for me, I probably would have become some sort of ASE certified auto mechanic. It would be awesome to be able to do ALL of the work to your own car.

Hey guys. Just got my oil change done at Mossy el Cajon today. Well unfortunately I got to say that the overall experience was kind of dissapointing. First off it took 45 minutes to do the oil change. Thats not too bad. The real crapper was that I saw them park my car after the oil change and I waited for them to call my name to pay for it. So I wait. They call some other peoples names to pay but not mine. So I keep waiting. They call more names to pay but not mine again. So now the waiting area is almost empty. So I go up to the cashier and tell the lady that I think my car is done. Low and behold she had my paperwork buried underneath a bunch of other papers. They would have never called me! 15 minutes have passed since I saw my car being parked. So all together I have been there an hour for an oil change. Okay, still not that bad. So I pay and get back in my car. First thing I notice is both my windows are rolled down and there are water spots all over both inside door panels!!! THEY TESTED THE WIPERS WITH BOTH WINDOWS OPEN!!! Okay, its not over. On the inside passenger door panel I see fresh grease marks. Why are there grease marks on the passenger side? I can understand the driver side, but the passenger side!?! I inspect the outside and there are really heavy grease marks on the hood, especially where the latching mechanism is. I mean heavy, as in black lines. They didn't even bother wiping them off. WTF!!! So thats all I have noticed so far. But thats enough for me to stop going there for service. I really don't think I'm over reacting because I had a Honda for 4 years and recieved excellent service for it. I think from now on I'm going to Mossy Oceanside.
If any Mossy El Cajon guys are reading this I also filled out a service questionare and put most of this on there.

Mossy Kearny always takes care of me. I always go through Daniel Luker.
Mossy Oceanside is great, too, since Mossy Performance is based out of there and Greg Vogel is usually in to oversee things.

The service at Mossy Kearny Mesa has always been pretty good, but I'll admit sometimes they're a little slow in calling your name when the car's done.
That's the one area they definitely need work on, getting the car out. Check-in is pretty well setup, but picking the car up is always a bit of a clusterf*ck. As importriders said, I usually notice that my car is done before they call my name and have learned not to wait for them to call me, but to go up to the counter (not cutting in front of others already there of course) and asking if it's done. If it's been pulled up to where I can see it in the waiting room, it's usually already been marked as done in the computer.
Once you've paid, it's still a little akward to take the car. I usually just walk around the little check-in offices in the middle and hop in the car. Sometimes the keys are in it, sometimes they're not. If they are, I just drive off. If they're not, I usually have to track someone down to get them off the rack.
So, I guess what I'm trying to say is that the actual maintenance performed on the car has always been good, my car has always been treated well (no crazy grease streaks or water on the inside), the staff is friendly and check-in is easy, but getting the car out after the service has been performed can be a pain.
I've been going there for over five years now, it's where I bought and took my 97 240SX for service. Plus, it's only about four miles from home and four miles from the office, so it's pretty damn convenient.
I never thought about filling out a comment card about the check-out process, but I think on my next visit I'll do that.
