VDC is useless (IMHO) and was the first thing I disabled on my car over 3 yrs. ago and never looked back. In the rain/snow is when VDC will really screw you up!

LSD is a must for the Z, if you don't plan to purchase and aftermarket LSD (Nismo, KAAZ,etc...) then spend the extra dough for the enthusiast and get the stock VLSD. You'll be sorry if you don't! it's not just for poor weather/traction conditions you feel it everytime you get on the gas

LSD= "limited slip differential"

When one of the rear wheels begins to slip, engine torque is transferred to the other wheel (which should have more grip/traction) This helps performance/safety by maintaining more grip.

The base model has "open differential". When one of the rear wheels begins to slip, all of the engine torque is transferred to the slipping wheel. This is inefficient and bad for performance/safety (loss of traction)

I have heard of people installing a different switch to disable VDC completely, aside from using the button near the steering wheel. Is that what you did?

Anyhow, if you plan on racing, stick with the base. VDC will just get in your way.

Haha, knowing Jeff, "disabled" to him prolly means ripping out all wires and components having to deal with VDC... but I'll leave it to him to explain.

Just unplug the Bosch Yaw sensor under the center console (behind the e-brake under the ashtray). This way you still keep ABS.

I use VDC in the rain, the rest of the time it's off.

BTW it kicks *** in the rain... very nice to have.

On dry pavement it's like having your grandma in the car saying "now now, don't drive too fast sonny"

A lsd helps you loop the car, unintentionally as well.

Thanks!

Any annoying warning light pop up after you do this??

I wonder how you could wire that same sensor to a switch to turn on and off... another project for another day....

One more thing:

Will putting in a LSD have any effect on VDC? Would I have to unplug that Yaw Sensor?

The Slip and Brake lights will stay on all the time.

You can wire in a switch, but why bother, I guarantee you'll never want it on!

Installing an aftermarket or stock LSD will not disturb the VDC, you don't "have" to disable the sensor/VDC but you'll want to for the performance

You absoloutley must get LSD. Let me give you the simple explanation that everyone can understand.

NO LSD means: forget about ever doing a doughnut or using the throttle to turn the car side ways, it will be impossible with out LSD. Also if you burn rubber only one tire spins leavin 1 patch instead of 2.

With LSD: fun fun fun, 2 strips of rubber, turn it sideways easily when ever you want and if you can afford the rubber, doughnuts galore. Now get the LSD and enjoy. They shouldnt make a Z with out it.

That last statement is damn true. I have a Base and need to get me a LSD! I tend to spin my tires everywhere I go.

Green light w/ dry pavement with normal throttle = No traction, Tire spin
Wet pavement with little throttle = No traction, Tire spin
Turning corner @ 25 mph or higher = No traction, Tire spin
Going up driveways at an angle due to lowering = No traction, Tire spin

Last and most importatly is:

Full throttle at green light = 1 Tire spin causing car to go sideways! Dangerous!!!!!

I mastered the technic of the right throttle and no tire spin, but LSD is still a must.....
