Default San Diego help

Hey. I'm heading to San Diego for Vacation in Mid-August. Can anyone tell me cool things to do, and/or mention a nice safe hotel? I'm also interested in renting a car and enjoying the roads. Any nice curvy driving roads out there? Please help in any way thanks!

There are alot of nice twisty roads on the way up the Julian/Palomar moutains. I also own a supercharged Focus, and I take it up there almost every sunday. Im still afraid to drive the Z up there. Any of the major hotels in the area would be safe, I cant really recommend any, because I dont know exactly where in SD you are gonna be. There are tons of things to do. I dont know what you are into, or if you are gonna be with the family or whatever, but there is sea world, the zoo, the wild animal park, downtown SD, the Gas lamp district...which is where all the bars/clubs are. Let me know what you are looking to do...and I can try to tell you where to do it.

It's just me and the gf. I'm interested in dining out, the beach, shopping, surfing and dune buggying. I have no set place I'm going to be, so i'm up for hotelling in any area. Are there cool little spots within a few hours of San Diego? I appreciate it, Thanks!

I would say one of the best places to go is Pacific Beach. There are lots of little stores, and clubs there. Its only about 20 minutes north of Downtown. Just try to stay north of SD, not south. Coronado is nice too...its right across from downtown. I wouldnt stay at a hotel there, its a but pricey. There is a decent Holiday Inn right downtown. I dont know how much you are looking to spend per night. You would have to travel out to Glamis to do some Dune Buggying...that would be the best place to go.

Ughh... I've been to TJ bfore. That was fawked up. Mission valley, huh? I'll check that out. We'll definately have to go to the gaslamp district. How far a drive is it from downtown to the beach? If we want to frequent the beach do you think it's worth it?
