Default Help!!! Broken Stud

Any one close by to Carson that can help me replace a wheel stud. I really don't feel comfortable driving on 4 lugs. I can treat you to lunch or something.

Honestly you can survive on 2. You only need 2 physically. 5 is for saftey and stability. Get it changed, but theres no rush..

Call Status. They'll do it for you... Best of all, you can even go there on Sunday since they're open 7 days a week.

it's actually very easy we had to do it at the track a few weeks back and from now on I'll do it myself.

take the wheel off, take off the Caliper (one nut on the top and one on the bottom, I believe it needs a 13/16 socket. This is the only tough part getting those loose since you can't fit in a big enough wrench to have leverage so we used a rubber hammer to loosen it by gently hitting the wrench.

once the caliper is off you can take off the rotor (make sure the hand break is off otherwise the rotor won't come off).

then use a rubber hammer to push the bad stud out (you don't want to mesh in the stud head or it'll be hell to get out. Once out put in the new one (you might have to fiddle around a bit getting this in but it works.

After that use a lug nut and tighten so that the stud will be seated correctly.

Put the rotor and the caliper back on (not sure what the torque needs to be for that), put the wheel on and tighten. Drive the car a bit and then re-tighten.

that's it

if someone could post the torque for the caliper that would be appreciated
