Last month on the 405 I received a fix-it ticket for running without front/rear plates (on 10-23-06). I was busy for a long time, so I haven't got around to fixing it until now (the rear plate was put on the next day, but the front wasn't taken care of until now).

Anyways, my court date is 12-6-06 which is slowly approaching. So I wanted to pay the processing fee and get it overwith. However, when I call the court-house, the automated system says that my ticket code/number is invalid and they have no record of it. Then it asks if I want to search by driver's license, and again it says no record. What do I do? Is it possible they lost my ticket? What happens now?

 

It usually takes 2 days before your court appearance for your code number to validate. I had the same experience..

 

Maybe you got lucky.
I would still make sure nothing is wrong tho.
Afterall, it's only $10 for the fix-it-ticket.
You don't want to be screwed later over mere $10.

 

Really? Because it's been a month already. I know when I called them like a week after I got it, it said it could take up to 21 days for a record to show up. But its like 2 days short of one month now, and still nothing. Was your case similar?

Yeah, I would rather just pay it, but I don't have time right now. And I don't want to pay for a ticket that doesn't exist.

 

same thing happen to me. the ticket was not in the automated system because it was mandatory that i appear. with a fix it ticket it is mandatory that you appear to prove that you fixed the problem or to show the judge that an officer signed off on your ticket. You cant use the automated system.

 

Mine was for "expired insurance". I forgot to put the new insurance card in the car, and was pulled over for a illegal u-turn.. But the police officer was nice enough to just write me for expired insurance. I actually had two court dates.. 10/17 and 11/8 (Don't know why). I went to court on 10/17 and they said that they will have my ticket validated around 2-7 days before my court appearance which was on 11/8, so I had to go back to court 11/8.

My fee was 10 bucks also. My sister was also pulled over for a "Fix-It" ticket, and she paid 10 bucks as well.

The reason why I orginally asked was they rejected the "fix" since all I did was zip-tie it to the grill. So I went back 3 hours later and showed them I had "permanently" attached it by bolting it on. It's a very easy fix that doesn't require you to drill ANY holes.

What you need:

1. Your license plate (duh)
2. OEM license plate bracket (hopefully you didn't toss it)
3. 2 small nuts and bolts (probably have these lying around the garage)
4. 2 little squares of 3M adhesive (light duty/2-pound)

Use the nut/bolt to secure the license plate (and license plate frame if you wish to make it more legit) to the OEM license plate bracket, and then stick the 2 small pieces of adhesive on the backside of the OEM bracket (there are 2 perfect spots for this). Then simply attach this assembly to the bumper. The double-sided tape should stay on pretty well. And once you're done you can take it right off.

Total cost of project: about $2 for the double-sided tape. Screw the Z-bracket!

True!!!!! im movin 2 Arizona, my friend lives there......says there practically no smog there....dudes run blown vettes with pipes commin out of the front fender, and cops do nothing!!!!!!

 

california's only a little more than 42,000 square miles bigger than arizona but we've got 30.2 MILLION more people. some more laws and regulations are necessary, no?

granted, the front license plate law is absurd.

#1 reason for the front license plate law is those red light cameras, which bring in a ton of revenue for the cities as well as make it a bit safer.

I don't run red lights, so yeah, it sucks that I have to have a front plate. But I also understand their importance
