Canon SD630.

Just picked up one for myself. Giant LCD Screen, easy to use, good picture quality, very small and portable, nice heavy feel.

Got on at Best Buy for $269

Well if you just want a point and shoot camera that takes great pics, i'd recommend the Sony DSC-w100. My buddy got it for xmas and i really like it. It takes pics really fast too so you dont have to sit there for 5 seconds with your finger on the button to get the shot you want. Its only about a 1 second shot and 2 seconds after hitting the power.

Nikon D40.
Entry level D-SLR for beginners.
Forget those Digital Elphs or ultrazoom cameras; get a REAL camera.
D-SLRs are not that hard to use(especially D40) with some photography studies.

Also, here's a link that teachs you basic photography skills, hope this helps.

damn just read your post again and it says "little" camera lol
Well I still recommend the D40

But if you really want little cameras you can't go wrong with the Canon Elphs.

wow, great info...im also in the market for a camera...I have the old canon powershot s230. It's a good camera, but i feel its a bit outdated. Right now, im leaning towards the Nikon D50. Trying to find one for $400.

Is the D50 a good start for a newb?

I'm still using my canon sd550 from last year and it still works well and takes great pics~ except it's kinda useless to have 7.1 mp... =___="

edit:
is it just me or are cameras getting cheaper?!??!??!?!?! cuhs I bought my sd550 for 440 last january...and now around the same time, cameras are soooo cheap!!!!! grr

The D50 is a great camera dispite the fact that the D80 came out.
You can get one for $499(includes lens) which is $100 cheaper than D40.
