I just can't believe what some of the people here are saying.
We all KNOW that 70.01 in a 70 is a crime. We aren't idiots.
However, that's the last thing to say in a situation like this.
And those people (e.g. teh215) that talked **** are the ones who instigated this nonsense, insulting the op (who has every right to feel that the ticket issued was contradictory to the interests of justice).

Then the mod comes along, telling SecondFate to calm down.
WTF!?
SecondFate was the one who was attempting to preserve this forum's image.
He also rightfully told the annoying **** talker to stfu.

Back to the OP, 72 in a 65 man?
That's some seriously ****ed up ****.
I've done 80, 85, hell even 95 around cops with the others and they didn't do ****. Other times, I got stopped and cited for doing 75 once, which I fought off easily. It just proves that the influence of the quota system is prevalent in the cops' decision making process.

Sucks dude. Might be your car standing out with two exhaust the increases the visibility. I know with my old green eclipse (front mount, turbo high spoiler, lowered, gun metal rims), I go pulled over for petty **** such as tinting. However, with the Z, its stock but tinted... I've yet to be pulled over.

Maybe you should calm down too.

SecondFate got mention because he was name calling, which is not allowed. Teh215 may not have been very tactful, but he stayed within bounds.

And if you're concerned about the image of this forum, how about we all stop with all the degrading names directed at Law Enforcement, the swearing, and the insistence that breaking the law "just a little" should be ok.

I said it before and I'll say it again....we all know that in many cases, issuing citations for speeding is a revenue generator, not a crime preventer. Since we all know it, we ALL roll the dice when we choose to speed, even a little (yep, I do it too). If I get caught, as much as it sucks, I man up and deal with it, I was breaking the law in front of a cop who was out making his quota.

Cause the cop can do 100mph and nothing happens.....the OP goes 72 and the flood gates from hell open up and millions of kittens are killed

Give me a f/n break....

Who exactly was in danger with no one on the road but himself? No one

Speed limits are a joke anyway with modern cars ESPECIALLY properly driven sports cars

I have the freeway a few mile from my house where the AVERAGE speed is 80 with some winners doing 90-100 in their MINIVANS

No one explodes instantly yet enforcement is LIGHT to say the least....probably for a reason....a sports car doing 72 in a 65....a waste of a ticket

I feel bad for you man, here in Colorado they dont pull you over unless its about 10+, at least from my experience. Driving 7 over is normal and the safest to speed over.

While I may agree with you 100% (and studies done long ago prove that the average driver feels like they are going "fast" somewhere between 75 and 80 and thus they typically wouldn't go faster if there were no speed limit), the fact remains that 7 over the speed limit IS breaking the law. A line had to be drawn by police somewhere or you'd be out there doing 120 amongst all the 75 MPH drivers, and half of teen drivers would die within their first year of having a license.

Regardless of everything you've said, and no matter how senseless 65 MPH limits may seem to you and I, that IS the law, and we all (including me because neither of my cars likes 65) know we're gambling with our money when we go out and do 70+. As I said before, speeding citations (except for the truly dangerous speeds) are as much about revenue generation as they are about safety enforcement, especially when you're writing tickets for 7 over on a 65 MPH freeway. We all know it, and still we play the game....when you lose, be a sport, and don't b!tch. That's all Teh215 is saying.

Out of curiousity, what would you propose if 65 is so unrealistic for todays cars?

I hate to say this to you guys but, Laws are meant to be broken! but thats a different story...

I have driven in DFW area at an average speed of 75-80mph when the limit is 65 mph but thats the flow of the traffic. Same in SoCal, ATL, and many more areas where they actually have FREEWAYS. Anything 10mph and under is a waste of the law.....its almost like an unspoken error gap if you will. I have a few Pig friends (*ahem* i mean Cop) and have worked with a few part time Pigs (dammit) and all can agree that its a waste of their time for something that small. With that being said however comma i can agree with the OP's frustration of such a piece of ****ing **** pig giving him such a bull**** citation! whew.....

Dont even get me started on the VIRGINIA Donut eating motha****ers! You guys try driving 55mph.....

i don't see why cops pull Z's over on the freeway's even if you're not speeding, just to give you a fix it ticket ... is it really like we're bothering people on the highway with our exhuast or our body kits? (leave it for the in roads to bother us). if we're all going speed limit, leave us alone, don't be jackasses and tail us like you want to hook the front of your car to the back of ours.

i just got pulled over right now on my way to work. going up the hill on the 10 east right before the 57 and 71.

he pulled me over for going 76mph (stupid). although he said he'd let me go, he gave me a fix it ticket for tint and front plates.

ah well. does anybody know if i can just pay a fine for the tint and not take it off and go to the courts??? cuz i know with front plates you can just pay a $25 fee and you don't go to the courts or anything. i just don't want to take my tint off.

Pretty much... I just got another ticket yesterday - 95 in a 70. I was doing about 85, and people were blowing by me at 95+. The cop said the same thing - he "paced" me for 4 miles, which I know is a farce. He pulled up behind me when I was doing 85 and said I was doing 95. This is what it is - California Cops love to give tickets to sports cars. It blows. Average speed on a California hwy is about 90, for those of you who don't live in SoCal. I am going to fight my ticket too - if the cop doesn't show up in court, I don't have to pay. I would have taken the ticket for 85, but claiming I was doing 95 by pacing me from two cars behind my car is bullshi*. Bottom line - cops like giving tickets to Z's.

Had a good experience with mine when I had it signed off. Cop didn't even leave his desk and just looked outside through the double doors of the station for my car. He even picked out a different car and I had to correct him and he decided then not to even look. Signed off my ticket and he didn't have change so he didn't make me pay. .

That location actually has an assigned parking space for vehicle inspection that can be seen through the front desk. I'm guessing if you just reversed parked it and not dress like a kid you can get off easily like me. (if you have other mods like tint and such it might be beneficial)

Nice avatar....and motto, "drive fast, take chances"

95 around here will get you a day or two in jail, if you're lucky. 85 a big fine.

I thought traffic out there prevented everyone from driving so fast.
