72 on the freeway? Lol about 85% of drivers on Socal's freeways do at least 80-85 mph, even faster when not during busy hours. Yeah you got singled out because your car looks mean or maybe its loud. Cops always use their own discretion whenever they make decisions regarding enforcement. Sometimes you get cool ones that let you go with a warning, but if the cop doesn't like the way you look or the way you talk, he can fine you for ridiculous reasons such as going over the limit by 2 mph just because he can. I think you'll win if you fight this ticket. If he didn't clock you in, than there's a highly good chance you'll win and maybe he won't even show up in court so you won't have deal with the fix it ticket and change out your exhaust. Good luck

All of the information you require is on the back of the ticket or should've been verbally announced to you by the cop. Call the court for more details but typically you can have any peace officer sign off on it or you have to go to a CHP stattion and have them sign it off for a fee plus the fee of the offence.

Gimpster,

Sorry to hear about it dude. I would definetly fight it. I have had one speedingticket and I fought it and won. It was given by som a$$hole CHP bike cop who was short as hell.

He clocked me doing 75 in a 65 while overtaking to get into my lane. I needed to get past a slower van to my right and couldn't decelerate becasue of traffic coming up to my rear.

I fought through the mail and after some heckling and wasted tiem going to the court, I was declared not guilty.

I drew diagrams and everything and also cited m flawless driving record and humbly asked that if they couldn't decalre me not guilty, then please issue me traffic school.

The cop even got em on radar or so he says and eh marked down his radar unit on the ticket.

Like I said, fight throught he mail first and even if you get a guilty verdict, the beauty of fighting through the mail is that you can get a second attempt known in Latin as a 'trial de novo' (new trial) where you can actually go to court with representation (a lawyer). If you go to court on your first attemtp and you fail, chances are you won't get a 2nd chance and if you do, you have to file an appeal or file a motion which could really cost money. So o through the mail first! Goodluck!

invest in a radar detector, assuming you don't have one already.

Totally, On my brother's grave I swear this is true. Was doing 90mph in the carpool lane on the way to work yesterday on my Hayabusa. Got passed by a CHP on a BMW. He didn't even give me a glance or a wave, the finger...nothing. So Cal traffic is usually everyman for himself unless you're doing something really blatant, like 90 in the carpool lane. But, life is different in the OC. Yes, sir, tucked safely behind the Orange Curtain, things are different.

Charolette's a nice town, nice roads. We have laws here, yes, and they actually get obeyed from time to time. But when you get used to the status quo, you expect things to go that way. So both of you have good points.

Gimpster, read my post about how to get out of a ticket while still on the side of the road. It has worked for me 14 out of the last 15 times I got pulled over and has the blessing of just about every cop I have talked to about it.

In the mean time, if you're going to drive fast, try not to get caught!!!! I do my best to not get caught, and I go to the track as oft as possible, but someitmes, well you know, **** happens.....

D.

You're a total a-hole. The guy has a right to be upset. 7 mph over is BS, you know it, I know it. Yes he was speeding but there's a well established system of leniency present in every city in every state which basically takes into account that very minor speeding is not wreckless, endangers no one's life, and is ultimately a victimless crime. Clearly your posts are designed to be annoying and antagonistic. Grow up.

sorry to hear this danny. as far as the no front plate ticket, just tie strap the plate on your bumper take it to get inspected and signed off. and take the paper to court with you. they are going to charge you like 10 bucks to dismiss the fix it ticket. and if you dont want your front plate on take it off after

Look fellas....You can call it a BS ticket if you want, but like it or not, the posted speed limit is the law. You said it yourself...It was a (victimless) CRIME, so your very statement indicates that he *did* break the law. He knew he was doing it when he did it (don't we all ), and he got caught. It's one thing to say it sucks (cause it definitely does), but to assume the risk of doing something illegal and then crying foul when you get caught is, well...irritating.

Ultimately, teh215 is right. Maybe he wasn't very tactful in expressing that viewpoint, but ultimately he's right.

I guess my point is, watch the name calling, it's not allowed here. Disagree with each other politely, please. Thanks.

Not to side with the cop, but pacing is a legit way for an officer to gauge one's speed. In court the judge will ask the officer if the police cruiser's speedometer had been calibrated and what a suprise, of course the answer will be yes.
Also another thing is, is it possible your speedometer is off? Up sizing on wheels and tires can throw your speedo out of wack. The key is to when getting bigger wheels to maintain the overall aspect of the factory wheel and tire.
So perhaps, you were actually going that fast but had not known it? And yes it is stupid to get pulled over for going only 7 mph over the limit but then again it's the CHP, the equavilient of Hitler's Gestapo but for fixed up cars.
