Default Test Pipe Survey

Just wanted to see how many people is california have test pipes and if anyone has got busted for having them. As for the smell, i think i would try to play the smell off as running 100 octane

It really doesn't smell anymore to be honest - only a little bit when the engine is cold. Then again, I have Virginia plates still, so I have another few weeks before I take my car to be SMOG'd...

If they were brand new, then they'll smell for a little while.

they stink pretty bad, with the first few weeks being the worst. but it doesn't even come close to a FI setup - fuel burning with a custom 3.5 downpipes will put you on your knees with its stench. getting different ones installed soon.

I just put them on this past saturday. I am avoiding all the streets, lol. I am going to order two huge resonators 14" and hopefully it'll quiet things down. If not, I am going back to cats.

i think it is stupid about all the smog stuff. Getting pulled over for your car being "too loud" and then getting busted for test pipes is jacked. I got pulled over in my rx-7 and the cop insisted it was too loud and it wasn't. Then i was bored and listening to sound clips of like Saleen S7 and other maddly expensive cars and they sound way loud. Like another member said, i think cops are sometimes out for the modified import cars sometimes and leave the american musscle alone
