ok to use test pipes with stock y-pipe?

ok to use test pipes with stock y-pipe?
I was wondering if anyone has done this at all. The test pipes have a smooth inside and the y-pipe has that extra inner tube and what looks like a packing inside of the tube.
Curious if the inner y-pipe packing will be ruined or messed up if putting test pipes on the exhaust.
Also, has anyone uses test pipes with an aftermarket catback with the STOCK y-pipe in the middle? I am thinking there will be a "bottleneck" effect if this si done but wasn't sure if anyone has done this.

ok i had a full nismo exhaust.. y, mid, and muffler with strup non res tp. my nismo y started leaking, so i replaced it with my stock y with nismo mid and muffler, and no problems yet. been about 6 months?
