My Totaled 06 TT Z
So, just got a call from my insurance company on the wreck I was in last week...
[Pictures and story]

They are totaling the car out, since the damages were about 20k and the frame was tweaked.
I'd like some suggestions on what to do with my JWT TT, Stillen TD exhaust and test pipes. Should I just get another Z and put them in the new one? Or should I sell em? meh.
And anyone with experience on what happens at this point, after the insurance company deems the car a total loss, please let me know... I have yet to see the police report, but I am confident that it is going to put the woman who hit me at fault. Does that mean I don't have to pay for crap? Like my cracked intercooler?
P.S. I hate VW drivers. They all seem to be paying more attention to whatever is in their purse than what is going on on the road.

unless you reported the mods to the insurance company they are not covered. If you increase the value of the car, the ins co. needs to know about it. A friend of mine lost 10K in mods when his ride was totaled because of this.

Not sure how that all works but if the car is totaled, the Ins company is obligated to replace what they insured. That means current market value for the make, model & year, mileage, etc. They give you the $$ it would take to replace that car and keep the car and the title. I assume they broker out the car after that.
A friend of mine once totalled his pick up truck. I went with him to the yard where it was stored and we took the aftermarket stereo gear right out of the truck so that he could at least install it in his next vehicle. He never claimed it and knew they would not cover it as part of the loss.
You might check with the insurance company about your options but if they put the car in a locked storage / impound yard you may not be able to get at it without their written authorization. My thought is that as long as you don't claim anything that was not covered (like undeclared mods) they should not have a problem and might even let you get into the yard to pull stuff off if that's an option or desired.

Did the officer actually write a police report? When I got t-boned back in June, officer told me that since nobody was injured, the protocol required no police report, and that was with almost $20K in damage. Thankfully the lady was caught in a lie and her insurance company accepted liability - but it still took about 3 weeks. Once her insurance company accepts liability, it doesn't matter what you had insured, they're required to reimburse you for the damages or total out the car. What gets tricky is that your mods somewhat increase the value of the vehicle and thus raise the total loss threshold.
Judging by those photos, your car is in pretty good shape believe it or not.
PS, side airbags wouldn't have done anything in that accident - you hit on the wrong side.

I hope you get stuff straightened out. I got rear ended becuz some punk kid who just got his license tail gated and didnt pay attention at all. That kids parents were cops. The cops claimed no damage which was BULL ****. The kid had an insurance card and everything but a few weeks later... My insurance company called and said that he didnt have any insurance! THis was bull ****... I ended up paying $500 to get it fixed. Damage was in the $2000 range but was covered.
