Got a job selling Nissans; Anybody in SoCal need a car?
Well, I got a job at Pacific Nissan in Pacific Beach, San Diego. Wanted to get away from teaching for a while after the move out here from TX and figured since I'm a car guy and Nissan enthusiast, why not give it a shot? I'm not your typical car salesman, by any means, lol (NEVER done sales before); I just love the cars and if I can help someone find what they are looking for and get them a great deal and have fun at it, my day is made.
As you guys have probably seen, the Nissan model year end event is going on now until Sept. 5th with rebates and special financing to move out the '07s, so now is prime buying time.
Just a couple special items of interest: we have a NEW '06 SS Touring 350Z roadster on the lot that somebody can get a heck of a deal on (they really want to move it BAD). We also have a white Altima Coupe just in; hot item.
Oh, and, NO, no sign of '08 Zs yet; just got an '07 GT roadster off the truck, so '07s are still coming.
Anyway, I'm not going to try and advertise the dealership or get specific on cars and pricing here, due to forum rules (plus, I think it'd just be tacky; I'm one of the "old gaurd" around here, so can't have that. ), but if any of you (or anyone you know) are looking for a new Nissan (or used; we have a nice selection), I can hook you up the right way. Feel free to shoot me a PM or stop by the store and ask for Steve.
Oh, free BBQ This Sat, too!

Congrats. I look forward to hearing a non-sales guy's experience after being exposed to the car sales manager world.
I read an article once where a journalist got a job as a car salesman to see what it was all about. Very interesting.

^ LOL, it is interesting, at that. Salesmen are funny. Thing is, I've been on the line 5 days and have sold 3 cars, outshining the veteren guys (slick talker types), just by being cool, talking to people and sharing my own Nissan experiences. I don't want to be hustled when I buy a car; I'm sure as hell not going to do it to anyone else. I'm just not skilled at that aspect and don't really desire to be.
The managers can be cut-throat, too, but they're actually pretty cool guys (they're more bark than bite). It's a smaller dealership that really has a more laid back atmosphere than your typical grind house, lol. That's why I specifically chose them. I was offered a position at Mossy and turned them down; place just had a real snake pit feel about it.

Service dept is great. There's another Z guy working here as well with a black TT Z with, rims, kit, etc. (forget his member name, his name is Alex; he's been on vacation since I started, but I talked to him prior to coming on here) and he sings praises for the service dept. Says stay away from Mossy; they did something to screw up his car once. I've seen 3 very nicely done Zs in our service dept since I started, so those guys obviously trust them. Alex also told me there's a cherry R32 GTR that comes in here for service. You know those guys don't just take their car anywhere...
