damn that's a long trip in the Z. But that's some good gas mileage! That's insane I've never seen that meter go that high! You got 155 miles on 1/4 tank?

Oops meant to say, I got to Amarillo with 3/4 of a tank left.

Today we are off to Springfield, Mo. with a stop in Oklahoma City for lunch. I really hope the scenery change. I will keep snapping pics.

I rememeber back in 2003 when I got my Z and picked it up from Scottsdale. I decided to drive to New York when the car was brand new. I drove on the 10 east all the way to Jacksonville and took the 1-95 north to Jersey. I remember the drive through Texas took for f-in ever long as$ state. It was a blast stopping in small towns and everyone asking me about the Z. I did this trip twice and this is the reason why I have some many miles traveling across the US and stopping at other states to check out the scenery.

Well today we drove from Amarillo, TX to Springfield, Mo. The drive was much better till we got to Mo which drivers are worst than Cali. I felt like I was back in PR. People driving well under the speed limits on the far left lane and changing lanes for no apparent reason but just to bug the crap out of you.

We started early in the morning at about 8 am. This is he sunrise out of Amarillo.

Then not even an hour into the trip and we see this. We must have missed it by a few minutes because there smoke and dust was still in the air. By looking at the skids, I'm going to say that semis can't drift that good. we stopped since nobody was to check on the driver and he was okay and with a good humor. I walked up to him and asked him if he was okay. He tells me "OOPS..... I'm okay" we called 911. At that time another truck showed up and took care of the rest. We left knowing that he was okay and unharmed.

This is one of our stop in north east Oklahoma off the 44. Notice the car. Yeap they are full of bugs. DON'T mind the crazy woman inside. She turned 30 today.

By salicrupr at 2007-10-10

By salicrupr at 2007-10-10

The windshield was so covered on bugs that the camera couldn't focus out of it.

Tomorrow we are going to go all the way to Ohio. Is going to be the longest trip but with the motivation of arriving at our destination I'm hopping it helps.

If you are being transferred, why are you driving? The Navy should be absorbing the costs associated with shipping your stuff and vehicles...

Also, if you really needed to get there, you could get there in much better time - I left DC one Saturday at noon, and pulled into San Diego at 9PM (40.5 hours of driving total for 2700 miles and 240 gallons). My stops included Nashville and Santa Rosa NM - and that was with my truck full of crap and towing my Z.

The Navy doesn't ship cars if you are in CONUS. Trust me I have tried in the past 12 years. Also, I can't drive that many hours with 2 kids in the car. I also don't want to risk it with them either. I have 45 days of leave and the Navy is paying for the trip, so why hurry? I' going to Ohio first to see my in-law first though.

Can't even ship one car?

Tell your kids to build some character. I sat in the back of my father's '82 Audi TQC with a dog from Arizona to DC in 1.5 days, and I did OK - yes, back in the era when playing solitaire by yourself was your only option.

Tell you what, if you can put up with my son for more than 15 mins, then you win. Like I said, I am in no hurry. I like to take my time when doing things like this. Besides my wife can't see at night either. Another reason why I wish I could ship at least one car, that way my wife could drive during the day and me at night.

No thanks - when I see a child I run in the opposite direction. My fiancee is the one who is good at dealing with the "infidels"...

If you watch Barnyard, there is a character that my son is named after, "Crazy Mike". But he is funny though and he will talk your ear off about cars. He is only 6 and he can mention petty much every sports car on the road with the additional info on how many cylinders/rotors, turbo or n/a. His favorite car is a Mazda 787B

Well made it to my in laws. This drive was LONG but not bad. Lots of cities, St. Louis, Indianapolis, Dayton and Columbus to mention a few. I didn't get to take many pics today because we hit some traffic and the heather was getting dark.

Here is some pics of St. Louis. I kind of wanted to spend the night there because it seem like a nice place to shoot some good pics at night.

Here is the scenery of Indiana. Not much to look at. At least I had a few radio stations to choose from.

Well made it to Va last Monday. Right now I can't post much because I'm stealing some one else signal. I will have full services by tomorrow though. My house looks like a maze because there are boxes every where. As soon as I get everything in place, I will post pics of the house. I'm right on the beach!!!! weather here still nice enough to go swimming. This weekend I have some family coming over so I be fishing.
