TV help!!
Hi. I am actually in the market for a tv to put in my room. want the size to be around 30-40"? plasma or lcd? i really dont know the difference so if someone can explain that to me... all i know is from research is that lcd is supposed to last longer? but plasma has better colors and viewing angles? my price range is about $400-$600. i dont mind getting a non brand name, if it performs just as well as brand names. thanks in advance for your help.

Your budget is going to restrict your choices. If you have a Costco membership you can score a good deal there. (LINK) or (LINK). Both are good TVs for the money.
Check out Home Theater magazine's Buyers Guide when you have a chance (SEE LINK) for some good tips.

erickim,
basically its pretty simple and lcd when you touch the screen you could see the watercolors, just basically like when you touch your lcd monitor on your computer. an plasma has some sort of glass in it. so it might reflect when you have light shining in your room while the LCD doesnt really reflect. So it really depends on your room lighting on what you want. I got my LCD for 32" they always have the sale once in a while @ circuit city. It's an olevia brand and cost me about $550 with tax. good tv too.

Hey eric,
Get an lcd, it is more universal. Plasma's pixel shifting technology is not up to par yet so you'll get burned images on your screen. Plus with plasmas its difficult to watch during the day because of the glass reflection. Plasma does have a clearer picture but LCD compensates for it by brightening their colors to give a clearer picture. Both are the same but LCD allows you to watch tv at almost any angle at any time of day in any kind of lighting. Do not get a no name brand LCD, the probability of you getting a dead pixel is much higher in the no name brands than they are from companies that have pioneered that technology. My personal favorite is Samsung. Hope that helps!

I went with a 42' lcd from Olevia. Bought it at CC since they are having a special on it. $890 and then I got 10% off from a neighborhood coupon. Cant beat that. I believe the 32' is about $590.
