The very cheapest Chevron 91 octane in my town is $4.19 gal....NICE!
Hahahaha why would he free some of that up. Remember Bush is an oil guy and he really doesn't care what his buddies are charging. He just plays dumb and says, "Oh I didn't know gas was getting that high". But he is going to let the gas go as high as he wants for the rest of his term since its nearing the end. So yea why would he free up the reserves when him and his friends can make money. I just can't believe ppl not only voted for him once but twice and brought down the US into horrible recession and debt. He has truely screwed us over.

Bush is very well possible to blame for putting us into debt, but not recession. And yes it truely is amazing how people voted for the "guy you can have a beer with"

anyhow, freeing up the the oil reserves its a temporary fix and once those reserves are gone, dollar per gallon will just have a more dramatic impact as it shoots up to what gas prices should be, plus what it has been rising since the government started the release of reserves.

The only real solution to this that i can see is either bribe OPEC to pump more oil(controversial if they even have the means to do such a task), or somehow logically remove oil off the new york merc. so that people can no longer invest into oil.

I think bush is partly responsible for a recession. Because he has put us into so much debt our money is going to places it shouldn't be spent. Taxes have gone up and companies are outsourcing more to other countries for production just to make a profit which just spirals into everything.

Are we really going to get to five dollars a gallon this summer?

Well, we do have ALOT of oil in our reserves but the way they ( the govenment) look at it is like this, someday everyone else is going to run out of oil and when they do we will drill in Alaska and use our local reserves to fuel our millitay and sell it to others for what ever price they want..

IMO when we went into Iraq, we should have taken over their oil for our troubles. We are over there "helping" people, that in these days, don't really want us there anymore. Should just protect the oil, and let these idiots shoot each other. The only thing I hate about the US is how we have to force democracy on other countries. If a country wants to worship a giant f*&king nacho cheese dorito, let them do it.

+1. We shouldn't involve ourselves in foreign affairs but he is trying to control the oil. That is the only reason why we are out there. Our kids out there aren't fighting for freedom but just a profit for those in control. We don't even hear anything about Osama and wasn't that the reason we started anything out there to begin with. But he sidetracks for his own agendas??!! I don't want to live in the US anymore. I am scared to find out what bad things are going to happen once the new president takes office.

we did, research Mr. Cheney, VP of the United States.

What really frustrates me is when the sudden spike started, everyone wanted someone to blame which was the oil companies. I strongly defended them in every debate i'd get into saying it truely isn't their fault. They will always only make a certain margin above what their cost is, so it would be unfair to blame them. But now that the price per barrel of oil has dropped significanly, the price of gas is still going up this week....

now i really have no mercy for anything that happens to them.
