Default SoCal Premium gas at $4.49 a gallon - with pic

I was in downtown today and spotted these prices for gas. The location is right smack across from Olvera street and Alameda. I am so glad I have a scion XB for a daily and not subject to use only premium. I also spotted another place last night that had Diesel fuel at $4.95 a gallon. Are we really going to get to five dollars a gallon this summer?

nope, sorry to give you the news. but i was watching the news and they predict next year around the same time the prices of gas are gonna double. so you are looking at about 8 bucks a gallon.

I just don't understand how they can get away with something like that. There's gotta be some kind of law to prevent this ****

LMAO! The US, the great voice of the free market is crying "not fair" in the face of the free market forces that are driving oil prices. Supply and demand! China & India are big demand factors, as is the US. IMO, the suppliers have every right to get as much as the market will support.

When the cost is great enough, there will be change. I think this is an opportunity for the US to show real leadership again. The freedom that drives creativity and innovation coupled with the national will to detox from our oil addiction could bring us into a new era of leadership. Small changes, over time, lead to great changes.

Personally, I'm asking around work for interest in car pooling (zero interest so far but I will keep trying) and I am figuring out a way to ride my bicycle to work 2 days a week. It's only about 15 miles away, just have to figure out the logistics of clean up and clothes.

well in a year i think we are gonna look back at this price and think this is cheap compared to 8 bucks a gallon next year.....

i think we'll be seeing more bicycles, scooters, rollerblades, and walkers on the street.

yo ED! Buddy how's it going?

You think $4.50 is bad, my co-worker is hurting worse since he drives a 04 Ram diesel and gas prices around his area is $5.30 a gallon, yea you heard it right.

Luckily he got his truck converted to veggie oil 2 weeks ago. He's still working out the bugs and filtering his own oil from the restaurants but the real tests comes when he goes up to the dunes next month.

I don't mind the higher prices... I started to notice less traffic and people actually driving close to the speed limit.. and less a-holes.

+1 on less traffic and people going slower. Well I'm in santa barbara and there's 2 gas station (chervon n mobil) with 4.76 for premium, it's always pack too. Go figure.
