Customer service industry is tough. It only takes 1 person to make your day and it only takes 1 person to break your day/week.

I used to work for OC Social Services & try to assist people on welfare better their lives. They would spit & cuss you out if you didn't give them what they wanted - some were on drugs, criminals, abusers. The offices have their own Sheriffs and you need to be buzzed in if you have an appmt.

Had a guy threaten one of my parts girls one time. he then came down to the store and talked a lot of crap and was scaring customers away. I stepped to the other counter and told her to go in the back and make a call for a credit check (code to call the police).

I then stood there while he berated me for not coming out and taking care of business man to man. It was some stupid part he ordered and it was wrong and there were no returns. he supplied the p/n number and signed the special order / no return form. He then threatened to come over the counter and kick my a$$. I asked him not to. he laughed and started saying he was gonna beat the living day lights out of me and that I was probably pissing my pants now that a real man was calling me out.

I explain (very bored mind you) that i was very afraid for my life, and strongly suggested that he not come behind the counter. He laughed and threw up the counter to walk back.. and then I cycled one into the chamber of the 12g we had under the counter. Never seen anyone jump/walk backwards so quick. I let him know that i was still very much afraid that we had only called the police and not an ambulance and suggested he sit down and shut up until the cops came. I had him sit in the middle of the showroom with his legs crossed and his hands on the ground. Police came...and were pretty friendly with us being a family business in the area since 1929. they took the guy outside and stuck him in the cruiser, inspected the shotgun (which was already cleared and reset under the counter before they got there) and that was that.

He didn't get his refund and never came back.

Some people just don't have mental circuit breakers. if you are in customer service, let the customers make the mistakes. it isn't your company, so don't take it personally. Or, work for a mom and pop shop with some hardware under the counter.
