Default CA tint?

I know that the tint law in CA is 70% on the front side windows, but I want to go darker. Like 20%. If you live in CA, how dark are your front windows?

I'm just new to CA and I'm not sure what the 5-0 is like around here. I have a buddy in Washington whos got his at 10% and hasn't had any problems. WA's law is also 70%.

It's just a risk you take. Trying to figure out how the cops around here is pointless really....One cop can give a rats *** about tinted windows and another lives to give out tinted window tickets all day.

I went with 35% all around.

Basically, so long as you're not driving like a douchebag to get attention from the police then the likelihood of getting pulled over for tint/no front plate (typical combination) is very low.

Take a look at this site. It says that 70% is legal on the front sides. Is the site legit?

Well, this pamphlet I found on our base that was passed out by the CHP says no tint is allowed on the front side windows. I guess its a matter of whats more up to date. I was commiting myself to get some tint work done just yesterday too.

I wish this was true. Of course if you drive like a douche bag your going to get pulled over. I got pulled over in my Z for window tint which was 35%( i think) on the 2 front windows. The funny thing was he pulled me over after the freeway transfer which I was going slower then 60mph because of a little traffic. Got me for the tint then walked around and got me for no front license plate. This was in the Sacramento Area. The officer told me something i wasn't expecting... he said " When I bought my Z the dealer made me put on my license plate or I couldn't drive it home"...

My friend got pulled over for his tint on his 300zx TT. The officer always seen him around town and gave him a ticket when he was just in the car with the windows down.He knew he had window tint so he waited till he got to his car
( which wasn't even on).

I didnt get pulled over for about a year. I know others who have dark limo all around and has never gotten pulled over. By the way i dont drive like a douche bag. Limo tint all around looks great on the Z. but i cant afford the tickets.

Basically... you can tint the rear as dark as you want. The front side windows cant be tinted at all & the front windshield can only have that black strip.

+1
I had 35% all around, one night a cop pulled right up next to me and looked over, he didn't do a thing. The next night I was stopped at a stop light, a cop went by, turned around and pulled me over for tint at like 2 am. Maybe since my car is black the tint is more noticeable?

whether you get pulled over or not is based on the cops. i haven't been pulled over for tints yet cuz i always roll down my windows when i see cops. i have gotten pulled over for a god damn no front license plate though! and i have 20% all around, so once again, if you don't attract attention and roll down your windows when you see the po, you'll be fine.

i made it pretty long without getting pulled over for tint, i rolled my windows down thats kind of obvious, i suppose he just had a keen eyesight when he went by

i heard they're increasing the traffic violation for no front license plate.
