Any tint on front windows in California = Illegal

Technically, it's no longer a "fix-it ticket", but many police departments still check the correctable box.

26708 (a) VC and 26708.5 VC should cover any questions you may have.

Does anyone have a legit answer? Websites say its 70% for CA. Ive never seen one that said you couldn't have any tint at all for the the fronts.

I posted information about this here which quotes VC 26708- which states 70% tint is legal:

https://my350z.com/forum/southern-ca...e-windows.html

I also talked to my tint guy who confirmed this, but also said 70% tint is VERY light.... almost clear so I'm not sure you can call it "tint" in the general sense of the word.

I have "dark" on my back three and "medium" on my front two. If I get a ticket, I'll deal with it then. I'm not too concerned with it... or the fact I don't have a front plate.

Here are some sites about 70% then some about no tint at all. Seems kind of silly that there is no def answer. Good thing im in the military, ill just go home and get it registerd and get tint as dark as i want and leave my front plate off. I have out of state plates on my honda and cops dont bother me about tint or my fron plate. Guess they dont bother with stuff they dont know.

The legal limit for front windows is 70%.

As mentioned, it is very light. Almost no shade at all offered but would be used more for UV protection.

found this when researching the cell phone law...it says no tint at all on the front windshield or front sides.

While the whole thing is pretty contradictory, I think this is where the "70%" rule came in since it's virtually colorless....
