Train from San Diego to Walnut, CA
Hi all,
Anyone ever taken a train from San Diego (oceanside) to somewhere by Walnut, Ca? Bing is putting the audio system in my Civic and we'll be meeting in Walnut after he and Eng tune it. I need to meet them up there and would like to save my wife from driving me up there with the kids.
Never taken the train before... thought someone here might have.
Thanks.

Thanks... couldn't remember the name of the train.
Looking at the Metrolink site, there are stops in Covina and Pamona which are relatively close to Walnut. $13.50 for a one way trip... seems like a pretty good deal.

i know there is a metro station in walnut right off of brea canyon. i think that station doubles as amtrak but i could be wrong.
my ex used to ride down from ucsd to the walnut station i think.. i dont remember if she had to hop on different trains at different stations or if it was one train the whole way.

^Yup. The CLOSEST station is the Brea Canyon station! it's in City of Industry which is 2 minutes away from Walnut. I believe it's only a Metrolink station. I take the train everyday there and I have never seen Amtrack.
If you can find Metrolink train from SD to Walnut, its the best way to go.
If you can't get a direct train, take Amtrack, go to Union Station (main station in downtown LA) there, you can switch to any metrolink to Walnut. I know on weekdays, there's trains leaving Union Station at 1:15, 4:15, 5ish~
Btw.. Trains are not very comfortable...

Thanks, guys.
I don't see a Brea Canyon station on the "interactive map", but maybe that is the Covina one?
From what I can decipher from the maps, I could take either the orange county line to LA Union Station and then the San Bernardino line to Covina. Or take the Inland Empire line to San Bernardino and then up the San Bernardino line to Covina (or whichever is closest to Walnut).

here's the station for the walnut one. it's a little tricky because its in the middle of walnut but that area is actually owned by city of industry..
