Sylmar Fires and whats left of my house
It's a little surreal, My place and my entire neighborhood wiped out over night.

Thanks everyone for all the kind words and good wishes, everyone made it out safe and sound. I’m on the couch at my sister n laws, not the most comfortable spot but I’m grateful. Our place was insured, but were not sure how much of a settlement we are entitled to. See with the market crashing the way it did, all homes have depreciated throughout the country. The mortgage was paid off so we get 100% of whatever they offer; we just hope its fair value. No amount of money can replace the years of accumulation, but at least we know we’re getting something in return. Everyone who can help out has. My work has given me the freedom to come and go as I please (with pay) during this rebuilding phase and the misses has received well over $2000 dollars in donations from her students and fellow teachers. It sucks and trust me I’ve had my alcoholic beverage venting sessions for a night or two since then, but we truly know now just how many good people are in our lives. Take the time to appreciate even the smallest everyday things in your life, your bed, your clothes, your TV even using your own toilet it’s all a blessing.

Ya, 602 homes, 487 gone. My brother n law lived five houses down, his is gone too. To end on a good note, we had to leave one of our cars behind, when we got back it was still there. Nothing but ashes all around and it was still standing, A little melted of course, but drivable.

We drove by there last week since I used to live in Sylmar when I was young. It was surreal looking at the neighborhood that burned down. Across the way, there was a home burned it walls and a woman was sitting on a portable chair.
