Window tint ticket fee
For those of you like me who had a pretty good idea but did not know for sure how much this fix it ticket will cost you.....I was just informed by the San Fernando Court House that it's going to cost me $123.00 to get this to go away
Yes, I can have a shop strip off the tint which drops the fee to $10.00 but my Z is in the body shop and I couldn't bring it to the station for inspection if I wanted to. I wish there was something we can do collectively to fight unreasonable Socal laws like these.
Until then remember to always roll'em down, most cops don't care but it only takes one that does.

Solution
Try and find someone on the forums who doesnt have a tint...or their tint is not illegal then switch out ur license plates drive to the court have em check out and sign it off...then go back to ur cars
Im thinking this is the only way if u dont wanna take off ur tint every time u get caught or if u just wanna keep it on.

Just pay the fee, save yourself the time, gas, and hassle.

CA Law states that no tint is allowed period.
http://www.chp.ca.gov/html/answers.html
Can I put after-market tinting on the windows of my vehicle?
The main requirements for legal window tinting in California are:
1. The windshield and front driver's side and passenger's side windows cannot receive any aftermarket tinting.
2. If the rear window of a vehicle is tinted, the vehicle must have outside rearview mirrors on both sides.
The law prohibits any person from driving any motor vehicle with any object or material placed, displayed, installed, affixed, or applied upon the windshield or side or rear windows, with certain limited exceptions.
I have 18% all around - non metallic as to not interfere with my radar and just lower my windows when passing cops. (knock on wood)

I've had a couple cops drive up next to me and motion me to roll down the window so they could comment/compliment on my car. Most really don't care, I don't think it's the percentage as much as it is the person.
