Man o man i finally got called into jury duty after years of "not receiving" those damn notices...

anyways theyre pretty strict now and even if youre employer doesnt pay you, you still gotta serve blah blah...

i got mines postponed until finally im on my winter break and i couldnt post pone it again so yeah im stuck....


went in yesterday around 2:30 already 3 groups called prior i was like yesss no more we got the call and like 24 of us got called in for a case of some guy who assaulted a bus driver while she was driving the bus and he attempted to sexually assault her and another female on the bus and was subject to leud conduct, i guess he was displaying his "****" in public...


so when they interviewed me and there were these certain questions stating that if i knew anyone who was a victim of a crime i stated my friend got raped(she actually did) and i stated it was a traumatizing experience and i would definitely be biased towards the case in my decision making... hopefully ill get to slide but its honestly how i feel.. i think sexual perverts and individuals of that nature

When you go in, carry a bible with you.

They'll kick you out before they even put you on the case. Trust me.

 

i got picked and actually went on trial. get this.. the fokker lived about 5 houses down from me, later I found out. I got excused, cuz I would be fearing for my safety, if I convicted the fool. He was on trial for GTA, for stealing a golf cart with a GPS tracking.

 

I used to say I didn't speak English... but now they say there will be interpreters

The system is pretty messed up... My father and I were called a few times when we were not eligible (status wise)

 

I sat in a jury for a robbery case. 3 separate counts, I believe. It wasn't too bad. The first two days were long...sitting around, waiting, and answering all those potential juror questions. The two days of the actual trial were very short days, so it was cool. The prosecutor was amazingly hot. That made up for much of the boringness.

 

I was sitting in the room with the other hundred people waiting to either be called in or sent home at 8AM. The first group is sent home after about 20 minutes. After the next hour, 2 groups were sent home. Next two hours, 2 more groups were sent home. It was down to my group and another group. At about 1PM, the other group is sent home and my group is told we will be called in at about 2PM. So we waited... 2PM passed with no call. At about 2:30, the lady comes out and says, "You guys are still here? We no longer need you guys. You guys are free to leave." So, I pretty much sat in the room with no laptop, no ipod, nothing for about 6 1/2 hours waiting to not be called. It was a great "first time going to jury duty" experience!

 

I sat in a jury case of a sexual offense. The defendant just gave up....the entire jury were females who claimed they were victims of rape.

 

My dad called me up about a month and a half ago to tell me I have jury duty. I don't live in the same parish I'm registered in so it goes to my parents' house. He said when he saw it, he thought he had jury duty and realized that it was my middle name. So being that I have classes out here, it's impossible for me to go so I call and get taken off of the list. Later that day my dad calls me and says "You son of a bish... I get home and there is a letter for jury duty and it's me this time"

Wasn't the same case though.

 

Felons dont gotta do jury duty... thats for the squares

unfortunately i guess after the defense saw the jurors were more one-sided and that this one lady gave a sobbing pretty sad story of how her ex husband mollested her 9 year old daughter and everyone in the court got emotional...


so ....

the defense probably realized it was a waste of everyone's time and took the deal...


now i can prep for track this saturday

 

I DO NOT want to be tried by a group of people who did not have the wherewithal to figure a way out of jury duty.

so i had forgotten about a letter for jury duty that i had gotten about a week ago and the first day to appear was the 8th of this month, so far i have heard nothing and i havent shown up to anything because i just found the letter lol...

who knows if im in deep **** or if im good to go?

I just got called to go to Jury Duty in January. I remember the last time I was in Jury Duty, I sat around with a bunch of old folks for 6-8hrs, doing absolutely nothing, watching Jerry Springer on a bad excuse of a T.V. hanging from the Courts wall. I am not looking forward to it, as my prior experience was horrible! I think this part of our Justice system is definitely flawed, and it needs to be re-evaluated.

Where is the logic?
Lets put a bunch of people into a trial, who don't want to be there, who are losing money, and are just obviously and inevitably pissed off, to help with the conviction of a guilty or innocent person.

 

i got jury duty notices 5 times from 2 different counties (alameda, up in the bay, and LA) in 2 months.... and this is AFTER i'd already legally changed my address and updated my voter registration to reflect my move back to LA. i ignored 2 of them, i sent back 2 saying i no longer lived in alameda, and i don't remember what i did with the 5th... but it was a second or third notice that said i'd be carted off to jail if i didn't respond LOL

 

I got called once and so the story goes...

Sat there allll day. They were on number 20 for the last group and I thought I was free and clear. I was the last name the called

Went across the street, sat in a room with a bunch of stinky, cranky ppl. They asked questions, we answered them. I got picked to serve on the jury

Walk in the next day. The table up front had a bunch of people all dressed in suits. This really hot guy winks at me and I was like sweeeeeet this is won't be too bad. So we exchanged looks back and forth for a while.

I soon find out that the case was for murder in the first degree during a robbery attempt, during a drug deal I sat there for 4 days looking at pictures of an 18 year old kid with a bullet between his eyes and listened to testimonies from convicts that came in with shackles.

The hot guy from day 1? He was the guy we found guilty of murder and robbery.

So is my life
