Dilemma
so ive decided (for now) that the car i plan to obtain in the next 5 months is a `05 (for insurance reasons) pikes pearl white 350z:
but here is my problem:
-i want a manual.
-Im moving to L.A. (Santa Monica area) after i get the car...
is traffic there going to be a problem with a manual?
ive heard some horror stories...
but i dont want to part with a manual.
should i just bite the bullet and get an...automatic?
what do u guys think?

why waste the money to get a Z when you can't enjoy the factor of shifting. i'm pretty sure you'll be driving your z and trying to heel and toe and you think well **** that was a stupid mistake to get an automatic.

and i agree with you.
but im just curious to see if there are ne people who live in the L.A. area that regret getting a manual due to traffic, since ill be driving around a decent amount.

Traffic is bad... I'm not going to lie.. You just gotta get use to it and know when to take freeway and when to take local. And you're going to need to learn all the back routes.

well no, not the ppw part, but getting a car thats older, like 3+ years, will bring down the insurance a good amount.
for me ne way.
but yeah i refuse to get any old car.
i plan to keep this car for a while, so might as well get one im going to enjoy for while.

m0nkie can pump your *****... haha j/k j/k j/k
but no auto bro... you'll regret it after a month or so.
Traffic is bad but seriously you'll get used to it. it's that moment of clearness on the local twisties where you will realize that getting a 6mt is all worth it. plus, there's always track days. I've never been to track day in a car but been to a few on my crotch rocket. Imagine track day in an auto... might as well go to the go-cart track and drive one of their's. that's my $0.02.
Welcome to LA!

The secret to driving in traffic with a manual is leaving enough distance in front of you so you just stay in 2nd gear the whole time. Let off the clutch, brake, and gas, and the car will just keep doing 7-8 mph in 2nd; even in 1st with no pedals the car does like 3 mph without stalling. That's what I do at least *shrugs*

driving in LA traffic with an MT is sheer anguish. I moved to SD and MT is enjoyable again, since there's barely any traffic. After 2 years of it, you'll go insane. I endured 6 years of it and almost lost my mind. You should get a beater AT for commuting. I have a camry for sale for cheap. check my sig
