Default quick vent... F*&^ Craftsman & Sears !!!

Gimpster421 and I purchased a Craftsman 1/2 torquewrench a while ago, anyway as most of you know "supposedly" Craftsman by Sears is supposed to be "lifetime warranty" and instead of paying like $20 for a crappy one, paying a bit more for quality as well as that "lifetime warranty" reassurance

So as some of you know I track my car when money permits it and obviously the torque wrench is an essential piece especially for track...

So my Craftsman torquewrench managed to take a shiet on me my last trackday i had to borrow someone elses and since im tracking this weekend coming i obviously need one. I roll to Sears to exchange it and the lady comes back saying its only a year warranty so im like WTF?? I would have easily bought Husky(Home Depot exclusive) since its lifetime but I bought Craftsman since they make good tools (even though my 200 piece set one wont hold inside the case and spills everywhere).. She's like well you dont have a receipt as well ... im like WTF?? isnt Craftsman Sears.. exclusive?? So I walked outta there with my broken *** useless torque wrench pissed off...

iono yo, i just feel that that i got the shietty end of the stick with their so-called lifetime warranty...

Craftsman tools are exceptional nonetheless, but I had a similar experience with my hydraulic jack. They said they would replace it for free but only with a receipt. I normally don't keep craftsman receipts because of their reputation so I was **** out of luck. They were willing to, they just needed documentation I bought it, not picked up a broken jack from the street or something. I was upset, but oh well. Your case was different in that warranty AND receipt was an issue. I have the exact torque wrench, but I can only assume you use yours more than mine. So far mine is still holding up.

In days gone by, they wouldn't even request a receipt. They looked at it, saw it was a Craftsman and replaced it. No questions asked.

Buy another one. Use that receipt to exhange the broken one. Then with the same receipt return the unuse one. Do it in different time and at different location, of course.

I used to work at Sears... I think a few years ago, they stopped exchanging some Craftsman tools.. or they would make us take forever n a year to exchange it + receipt required.. Sears hardware department isn't doing well at all..

but im sure u can find someone else that'll exchange it for u... when ur going to Sears on a weekday where there isn't much sale, the people working there sometimes are the stocking boys (MCA) or sales from other departments.. they don't know chit! u can probably find 1 person in the whole Hardware department that actually knows their tools

i also used to work at sears in the hardware dept. they told us the lifetime warranty was only on hand tools, pertaining to sockets, screw drivers, hammers, nothing with moving parts, if we got a broken ratchet we would repair it in house...

+3!!! I use to work there over 10 years ago. I hated turning people away because of the policy. People are always under the impression that Craftsman has a life time guarantee, even myself until I started working there... Sorry to hear about your frustration...

are you retarded? why would any torquewrech be lifetime warranty? just like snap on, matco, mac tools which are all high end tools, they would never warranty a torque wrench for life. you can buy one and drop it the first day and it would mess up. It's a tool that can break with user error. it's a precision tool.

i think this rant is worthless.

Its reliable, light and transfers tons of power.

You know that's not a torque wrench, right?

snap on, mac, and matco only warranty torque wrenches for a year as well, same with impact wrenches, die grinders, and air ratchets. Craftsman tools are good but I would never expect either of the tool brands to warranty torque wrenches....specially digital torque wrenches

From what I understand they only replace basic hand tools. I know snap on and matco don't have lifetime warranty on those either.

yeah...no lifetime warranty on torque wrenches from Sears.

they'll lifetime wrenches, sockets, ratchets, etc. for until they r blue in the face, but torque wrenches are a big no-no. if a salesperson told you they were when u bought them, they lied to you.
