Thanks to John Kuo @ Performance Nissan, again!
I haven't seen too many perf. nissan threads lately, so I thought I'd make a post to say they're still alright by me.
John Kuo is the man @ Performance.
My car is now 4 years old (but only 30k miles ) and it needed some service badly.
EDIT: oops meant 4 years old not 3
John offered an appropriate selection of services based on past vehicle records, and of course accommodated my own requests as well (using Motul 300V 5W-30 for the motor), flushing the clutch line with new clutch fluid (Motul RBF600), testing the alternator and battery.
After taking care of the service, John let me know that his tech found some stuff wrong with my car.
- Battery putting out low current (which I had suspected... no surprise there)
- Fan belt had cracks
As a consumer, I am skeptical whenever a dealer / service manager tries to "string me along" for additional service. So I asked to see the cracks for myself, and sure enough, I went over to the car and I saw cracking with my own eyes.
So I got new belts, new battery, good synthetic oil, coolant flush, everything taken care of, and John even took me out to lunch while I was waiting for the car (though I didn't expect it).
Although labor wasn't cheap, John cut me some deals with coupons and discounts on parts. He even threw in a bottle of Motul 300V for free, I needed 3 x 2quart bottles and that stuff is expensive. They even gave me the excess leftover oil to take home . Overall, the price was definitely fair.
Also, a nice touch was that when they replaced the battery, they kept the power connected to the car so my radio stations and clock were still set when I got the car back.
I am also ok with paying good money for good service and I don't mind paying for service I can trust.
The only service that he suggested which I thought might be unnecessary was the EFI flush. I don't honestly think the car needs it... I use only the best gasoline and I'd rather put it up on a dyno to prove it still has the same power it used to. Once I told him I didn't want to do the EFI flush, that was the end of story. He didn't try to sell me on it, just made a comment in the invoice that said he still recommends it.
I'll keep taking my car back here as long as John or someone I can trust is there.
