i know a few people went to carmax to get an appraisal. I just wanted to hear some inputs with your experience. doesn't matter what kinda car.
how much was KBB value? how much did they offer you? Which carmax location? did you sell it to them or someone else?

 

i got my z appraised and it wasn't to bad until they told me the price the want to buy from me. my z is an 05 DB enthusiast with 11,500 miles on it. it had the lojack early warning version, rare enkei RP03-RC and a few more goodies. what they offerred is $12000. this is the one in monrovia off the 210 fwy. and no way am i going to let that go for that price. pretty sure they will sell it for a lot more. this was like early feb.

 

been there twice, both times felt insulted after they gave me the estimate to buy out my car. Left and traded one into the dealer for my z for more than what they offered, and second time sold the car private party. Dont think ill ever bother going back again.

 

Stay away unless you want to get low balled.

 

was gonna trade in a 2004 gt mustang with 60k miles and about 6k in upgrades.... KBB was 14.5k private party and 12.8k trade in which wasn't to bad i was actually surprised at seeing those prices...anyways I went to carmax in monrovia and the guy was like wow ur car is nice and he says dont even bother selling it to us because honestly be expecting to get around 6k maybe less!!!!!! I turned around and drove my *** home which was about 60 miles away...place is trash complete bulllllllllshit!!!!!

haha yeah i just wanted to see if anyone was ever happy getting a fairly good deal for selling their car. i guess like no one has ever got above trade in? anyone know of any independent places who buys cars for a good price?

i went to carmax to sell my 02 civic to get the 350z they offered me 5500. and then went to a nissan dealership where i bought my 350z from and they offered me 4000. i said i wanted 5500 before pulling out the carmax sheet and they guy starts to lie and say that no one would give me 5500 for my civic... the guy started to play this low balling game.. of when was the last time i got my civic appraised and stuff like that.. then after like 30 minutes of screaming at the guy they matched the carmax price. by the way i went to the carmax near burbank.

so my carmax experience was alright.... i would have wanted more for the civic but it was much better than what nissan was offering.
