Default Questions about Smogging

My registration is up this month and it's SMOG time for me. I only have a Greddy Evo2 exhaust and I was wondering if I need to go to a "shop" who can pass me? This is the 1st time I'm ever doing Smog for a car and I have no idea where to start.

Any feedback would help right now. Thanks!

If you only have a cat-back exhaust, then you should have little to no issues with passing smog testing. Just go to your local smog check place.

If you're missing O2 sensors or catalytic converters, you're in trouble.

Can anyone recommend a good shop?

Can a some sketchy shop fail me if they want me to pay extra or something?

How much am I looking at?

Thanks!

Since we are on the topic, mine is coming up here shortly also. I have injen CAI, anywhere that I won't fail the visual that you all can recommend? If all else fails I still have my stock intake and can throw that on there and reinstall the injen as a short ram after.

i believe the injen intake for the VQ35DE is carb approved. double check with injen (website/phone) or the carb site before putting your stock intake back on.

I looked online trying to find a CARB sticker for the injen intake for an 04 and looked on injen's website but didn't see anything that showed it was CARB legal. I thought the same thing when I bought it though

seems alot of people have been tripping on passing smog lately......basically, if you have your cats you are good. Non carb turbo, S/C, or high flow cats will not pass anymore. Not to many daily drivers fall into this category.

You should pass if it's just an exhaust. Make sure you have all your sensors hooked up properly though, and that you have no check engine lights or anything. A simple little light can make you fail.

Unless you have no cats and major mods...there are plenty of places that will pass you. You're good to go
