Default Need a job

i deperately need a job lol...i want to get a job in mechanic field but since i'm

not experienced so much, i'm affraid of going to a mechanic shop and ask for

a job. i'm 18 yrs old and i took a mechanic class for a semester last yr. I do

changing oils on my family cars except for power steering fluid and brake fluid.

I currently live in irvine. Can anyone hook me up a job? i don't mind getting

paid little bit less than others because of my lack of skill.thx:biggthumpup:

Try jiffy lube or somthing like that. Gain some experience there, teach yourself to do brakes, tranny flushes, shocks, struts etc, then check on craigslist. I see $10 hr for entry level mechanics jobs all the time. GL.

I was going to recommend the same thing but also add that you might be able to get a job at a dealer and work your way up as well.

You're gonna need to get some experience under your belt, so be proactive dude.

Continue to go after formal education at local community / city college and look for work doing anything in that environment. You might check a few dealerships to see what the requirements are to be a full time mechanic, maybe ask to speak to a couple of them, find out what they did, ask for suggestions.

Dude, its ridiculously hard to find a job right now. I graduated from UTI last October and am still trying to find a job. I applied from everything to Jiffy Lube to independents to dealerships. I hope you have a clean driving record 'cause that's kicking my *** right now.

Plenty of shops that are hiring right now. With this economy, finding a decent paying one is the hard part.

doesn't hurt to try.. I was at a few shops in Rowland and I see a tech teaching his apprentice how to work on stuff.. all the kid did was unbolt studs to take tires off n those small stuff.. and I was in to swap springs..

do u need the money to pay bills now or just extra income? if you are a fast learner, try asking the shop to work for him for free for a little until you get the hang of it n see if he want to hire after? iono... ideas since jobs are hard to get..

good luck on your job search...I would also recommend maintenance shops (Oil changes, brakes, tire shops etc.) Midas? Firestone? Wal Mart? Costco?
